One night at Sugarbird
Sugarbird Manor was absolutely lovely. The cottage was perfect and the staff were wonderful. Our view was stunning. We were only there for one night, but hope to be back.

Really noce hotel in a beautiful wine farm. Super helpful and thoughtful staff, stylish decor, cleaning and well equipped rooms. Just wish we had longer stay.

Perfect
Beautiful location amongst the vineyards just a few minutes from Stellenbosch. The rooms very modern, clean and well equipped. Staff amazing and very helpful. Having breakfast on the terrace with the vineyards, mountains and bird life was perfect way to start the day.

Sugarbird is sweet

Perfect stay
We were very pleasantly surprised at everything about this hotel and thouroughly recommend it. It's only A few minutes out from the centre of Srellenbosch in a fantastic country location. I wish that we had booked more nights three as it's handy for touring the area

Sugar Bird Wonderful
I enjoyed Sugar Bird Manor very much. The property is simply gorgeous; I am still showing photos of the room and grounds to my friends. The views are spectacular and the property seems very secure (it is surrounded by an electric fence). I would prefer, however, if the front desk were staffed 24/7. One unappreciated incident: the cleaning staff left the veranda door to my room wide open, and I had to lock it and the windows. Anyone could have walked right in. I had to leave before breakfast for an early morning flight and, thus, was unable to have breakfast, which I would have liked to have enjoyed. I would definitely return to this lovely bed and breakfast.

Relaxtion, peaceful and views to die for.
Located a short drive out of Stellenbosch, overlooking the a valley. Very peaceful with great and helpful staff. An ideal spot for those relaxing afternoons you need by the pool. The views are fantastic. Located on a working vineyard, secure site. Staff will be able to assist in any of the wine tours you have in mind, honesty bar and free espresso coffee an added bonus.

One criticism, what a pity there was no log fire in the guest lounge where one could spend a cold evening otherwise a dream place to stay.

Lovely quiet location. Comfortable stay. Breakfast great. Could have done without seeing two cats walk all over the adjoining table in the breakfast room and everytime we opened our room door we had to push cats away. Service minimal as you are on your on after 5pm which didn't worry us, but maybe a concern for those who like someone available always.

Wine Country Paradise
Beautiful location in the wine country. Appreciated the extra attention to detail in arranging a wine tour with Anel, who knows the best wineries among the 170 in this area. Cats were friendly and felt right at home.

What an absolute gem, I stayed at the Sugarbird Manor for one night as a friend was getting married in the area. The staff are exceptional - welcoming, friendly, accommodating and funny :) (which always helps). The room was awesome, the bathroom was great, the hotel itself lovely, the grounds were clean and well kept and the views over the pool were just stunning! I wish I had stayed there for a couple of nights and hired a car to get around. My only bad point is that while using the shower the water wouldn't drain fast enough and the water just got everywhere and there weren't enough towels to mop it all up (I take long showers!). But I still loved it there. This place is perfect if you want to go somewhere quiet and remote. I definitely recommend :D

Beautiful surroundings, lovely breakfast area, lovely pool area with great view of the vineyards. Really enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff, even went out of their way to get a gluten free bread from the town for our breakfast! Would only suggest adding a shelve inside the bathroom for the toiletries, somewhere around the mirror. Definitively recommend and would come back again!

Would assist if staff advised of places to eat if arriving on a Sunday as many restaurants not open. Didn't think staff were over friendly unless approached. Towels were softest we have used in a long time. Beautiful views and surroundings

Paradise in the vineyards
Perfectly situated, great staff and a wonderful view. Also the pool is great. You feel away from it all yet close enough to Stellenbosch for great food and drinks. Right in the middle of wine country, there was a lot of choice regarding farms to visit and wine tastings.

Beautiful room that overlooked the valley. Madre and Staff are friendly and helpful. Set on a protea (flower) farm, this is a quiet getaway in wine country.

Fabulous hideaway
I loved this place. It's 5-10 mins drive outside of central Stellenbosch but absolutely fine if you have a car. The room was immaculate, the views are stunning and the service was excellent. If you fancy somewhere awesome, a little bit outside of the centre, then this place is definitely one to check out. The barrel aged Chenin, made on the farm, is also excellent.

Absolutely love this place! Charming location, friendly and attentive staff and stunning views. We paticularly enjoyed having breakfast on our private terrace (room 4 - highly recommended) and the pool area. The service was impeccable, with the staff going out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Highly recommended.

Stunning location
Sugarbird Manor is a beautiful hotel in a simply stunning location. It has a wonderful relaxing feel to it. We were upgraded on arrival and had a great room with a view over the Devon Valley. The hotel is in good condition and very clean. All the staff were very helpful, recommending restaurants to us and organising taxi's into town in the evening (approx. 180 ZAR return into Stellenbosch) and organising a wine tasting tour. Breakfast was good and there was plenty of choice. I would definitely recommend and return to Sugarbird and meeting the two very friendly resident cats made my stay, being a huge cat and animal lover.

Nice, but a bit remote on a protea farm outside of town. Very quiet but nothing to do. Living room is not very inviting, a bit sterile. Nice pool with nice view of the countryside. Interesting local artwork. 10 minute ride into Stellenbosch. Overall, good value.

Good place to stay
An excellent choice for a place to stay. It's secluded, off the beaten path, and it is a little oasis unto itself. It was not too busy while we were there, so that made it even more special to have some quiet time to ourselves. The staff was very hospitable and accommodating. The only negative was that there was no street address, so I had trouble finding it with my GPS. Other than that, everything was great!

Our stay was excellent. Clean sheets and towels which are very important.Location was good. However they need to put a sign on one of the pillars that says Sugarbird B&B. The sign they have on the road is very confusing. Breakfast was very good. For overseas guests and local CNN or Sky TV would have been great. Could not watch the winter Olympics.

Nice escape from Cape Town
We only spent a night at Sugarbird Manor. Upon arrival, we were warmly received. Our room overlooked a beautiful garden and was very comfortable. We enjoyed the tea/coffee tray with biscuits. The layout of the room was well done. The bathroom, with shower and separate tub, was spacious and modern. The beds were so comfortable that we slept far longer than what we had planned. Breakfast was nicely presented, with fresh fruit, cheese, cold cuts, and eggs were available upon request. We will definitely go back to Sugarbird Manor.

Beautiful Guesthouse
This guesthouse was a great little surprise!!! We were in Stellenbosch and had no accommodation booked, we were hoping to stay somewhere in town to be close to restaurants and shops, however once we started asking around we realised it is a very busy time of year and it was going to be difficult to find any accommodation. We booked Sugarbird through hotels.com. It is about 5 or so minutes drive out of town but it is stunning!!! The guesthouse itself is very large with lots of communal relaxation space, including a pool deck that was overlooking the beautiful mountains and vineyards! The room was clean, tidy and very comfortable. The staff were lovely and breakfast was also good. We had a great stay and would recommend to others, particularly if you would like to be out of the hustle and bustle of town and experience the peaceful serenity of this gorgeous place.

We had a wonderful one night stay at the Sugarbird...lovely establishment overlooking drop-dead scenery. Very relaxing atmosjphere inside and out.The room was quite comfortable and the size was adequate with a nice outside seating area overlooking the vineyards. Our hostess was so friendly and directed us to a nice restaurant only 1km away as we had been in the car long enough that day. We had a nice "Happy Hour" by the infinity pool using the honesty bar prior to dinner. The next morning we had a lovely walk among the vines and then a delicious breakfast of fruit,muffins,eggs, bacon tomato, mushrooms, etc. At some point in the morning, I misplaced a camera strap. So we drove back to the hotel to try to find it...but no luck. Then we drove up into the hills retracing our steps of that morning. The next thing we knew, our hostess had driven up there after us with the strap. Now that's service...we are very grateful to her. We plan to go back someday and spend a week!

Sugarbird is perfect for couples
Sugarbird Manor is amazing and it actually looks like the pictures! My fiance and I stayed here for 7 nights in May and could not have hoped for a better experience. Thanks Ginny for making recommendations for dinner and then making the reservations for us. The room was sparkling clean, bed was comfy, water pressure in the shower fantastic, the views we woke up to each morning were phenomenal, and breakfast was delicious! My only regret is that it's a pity we werent there in summer as it was too cold to take advantage of the infinity pool! If you are staying here you should definitely have a car, which we did. Extremely safe complex, but the fence/gates were well away from the accommodation and mostly hidden by the lush gardens so you didnt even notice. Stellenbosch is a wonderful alternative to staying in Cape Town and to get away from the rush of a big city. Its only a half hour drive away and the peaceful surroundings are so relaxing and quiet, so you can really enjoy your holiday :) It really is a beautiful part of the world here. Even the cats were excited to see us each morning hehe We would definitely stay here again, next time in summer so I can take advantage of the infinity pool! thanks ladies for a wonderful stay Michelle and Slabber
