Quick getaway
What a wonderful and tranquil stay we had at the Villa Exner. The service was absolutely fantastic. Stephan made us feel so welcome and served us a wonderful and delicious breakfast. I can highly recommend the Villa Exner.

Luxury with a personal touch
We slept over at Villa Exner because we were attending a concert in the area. We got back late from the concert, a little bit hungry. The kitchen was already closed but the hotel staff offered to organise a cold platter for us to snack on. It came beautifully presented with smiles, courtesy and pots of tea and coffee. So refreshing to see this passion for the job, where too often staff is unhelpful. Our room was super-luxurious with a palatial bathroom, dressing room and the bedroom overlooked nearby vineyards.

Amazing stay
Our stay was amazing. We celebrated my wife's birthday and they very kindly upgraded our room at no extra cost. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food was excellent.

Nice hotel great facilities.Food was delicious. We had a room overlooking the gardens which were beautiful. They currently have no liquor licence, so had to buy our own .To our amazement they charged us corkage ,which cost as much as the wine??

Firstly, we charge a fee for providing glasses, ice and actually serve your wine (which due to reasons out side of our control we may by law currently not sell to you - we are however working on this). If you'd buy the wine from us, this fee and a profit margin would be included in the price of the bottle. To suggest that you can in fact buy a bottle of wine at any restaurant for R50 surprises us (it's certainly none we would drink) ;)

Spectacular breakfast!
This hotel is very nice - it is in the suburbs but you wouldn't think so once inside the property. A lovely manor-type house with lovely gardens awaits. Everything is beautifully maintained with great attention to detail. Has a great restaurant with a proper chef on site, and the most amazing breakfast I have ever had included in my room rate, in any hotel. Superb service by restaurant staff and the host. It is very convenient to explore the winelands and nearby attractions. The bathroom was huge with every convenience of a 5 start hotel. Not a great many TV channels, but that didn't bother us. The hotel was good value for such an upmarket venue. The dinner is fine dining, so the prices are applicable and worth it. The mushroom soup is superb!

Our restaurant is in fact “everyday gourmet” - ie quite casual and our a la carte 3 course option will range between R300 to R350 per person only, which is far below a proper fine dining experience.

Nice hotel in a very poor country town
Hotel and rooms are comfortable, modern and clean and very well presented. It is set in beautiful gardens.

Thanks for your stay and review. We enjoyed having you and are glad you liked the hotel. Elgin is a farming community with the village itself more basic due to seasonal workers being employed in the fruit and wine industry. Most attractions however are nestled outside the village on nearby farms with excellent boutique wineries and activities, including the two major Unesco protected nature reserves. The hotel is located in an upmarket area of small holdings bordering the farms. Thank you for your feedback regarding our breakfast menu. Afterall, we try to offer an everyday gourmet menu, far from fine dining but certainly above a farm stall menu, which is generally well received and appropriate for a 5 star boutique hotel.

The villa and our room were great. We also had dinner in the lavish dining room in front of the open fire with excellent table service. My only suggestion for improvement is to increase the size of the TV screens.

AMAZING property
The Hotel is AMAZING!!! 12 out of 10 for service, attention to detail, comfort and pricing. The Managers were gracious, friendly and very accommodating and the food was to die for. Loved every minute, will DEFINATELY refer friends and family for an out of town get-away.

Fabulous boutique hotel very classy and elegant
After a busy ten days in CapeTown and the Cape peninsula,we took a much needed rest somewhere to relax and unwind.We visited Franschoek for the wine tram experience and Vergelegen and Boschendal wineries which were fabulous,but it was a pleasure to return every evening to our sanctuary.The hosts were gracious,friendly and unobtrusive,indeed very nice people .Fabulous inventive meals of the very highest class followed by coffee in the wonderful lounge before a roaring Log fire.Wonderful breakfast served on a delightful terrace by a delightful waiter.

If you're planning a visit to the Elgin Valley and want a small hotel where everything is top class yet quiet and comfortable, Villa Exner is the place! It's also very centrally located if you plan visits to the many wine farms nearby. From the warm and professional welcome at the front door by Sabine, the owner, to the top quality African and European elegant accents found everywhere, you will instantly feel at home. The design and placement of the garden rooms highlight privacy and peaceful comfort at every turn. Make sure you stay for dinner because that experience is 5-Star also! The cuisine is fantastic, and so is the service (to the smallest details)! A very pleasurable stay!

Great place
What a beautiful and comfortable place to stay! The service was impeccable, making you feel really welcome without being intrusive. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway. The fireplaces were always a treat to sit at and the food was top-notch! Furthermore, all required luxuries are provided for, which made it extra special to us.

Good choice
It was only one night and we happened to find this place. Great houses and great people there. Nice nature environment around the houses, mountains and farm lands. Good swimming pool but weather was chilly so we didn't try. Good restaurant as well.

A Rare Gem!!
It is very rare to come across such a well organized and professional team of people who manage to be so helpful and friendly, while having such a magnificent set of standards to which guests are treated. Great service, modern rooms , beautifully decorated. lovely gardens and pool area. the restaurant food and service was excellent. the only down side is that there is no privacy on the balconys.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Hotel set in a quiet area with nice garden and pool. They have a restaurant but a bit on the 'pricey' side - nice for a one-off treat. Food was good.

Luxurious and good location
Good location to end the garden route if travelling from Port Elizabeth to CT. Allows visit to Hermanus, both directly in about 40 mins and on the coast Route via Gordon's and Betty's Bay. Easy access to Cape Town in about 1hour drive. Really good value stay.

Die Zimmer sind sehr gut ausgestattet und sehr groß. Kurze Wege zum Pool und Haupthaus und sehr großer und gepflegter Garten. Sehr gutes Angebot zum Abendessen. Frühstück war gut und reichlich, jedoch der Wunsch auf Änderung der festen Zusammenstellung blieb unerfüllt. Es gab morgens wenig Obst. Der Pool war nicht sauber und der Reinigungsroboter mit dem Schlauch lief fast immer und dadurch konnte man nicht ohne Behinderung schwimmen. Alles in allem eine sehr schöne Anlage mit Verbesserungspotential.

En verklig pärla i Kapstaden-Grabouw
En fantastisk vecka på detta underbara hotell. Vilken fin service av personal och ägarna själva. Som företagare tittar man lite extra på hur de behandlade personalen, verkligen ett föredöme, de tilltalade dem på samma sätt som vi gäster blev behandlade😊 Hur lyckades de med michelinstandard på en sådan liten resturang? Missa inte denna möjlighet Rummen var exemplariskt rena o fräscha. Vi var två par på en 30-årig bröllopsresa. Frukosten var mer än vi hoppats på👍 Vi längtar tillbaka!

Spendor in every detail
This is an oasis of splendor. Each and every detail have been cared for: check in, rooms, welcome drink and the restaurant is out of the ordinary in every way. The food is an art of tastes from a wide variety of ingredients and herbs. The tinking is: how good can we make it. Had some pleasant and informative talks with the hosts. Highly recommended

Am Ende der Welt und leider nicht was gebucht war
Liegt sehr verlassen und schon bei der Anfahrt habe ich mich nicht sicher gefühlt. Das Zimmer das ich gebucht hatte (mit Balkon /Liege) war nicht verfügbar und das 'Upgrade' war nicht so schön, da u.a. direkt an der Einfahrt und am Parkplatz gelegen und mit gefliestem Boden. Im Zimmer waren leider recht viele Haare der Vorbenutzer. Der angebliche (Frühbucher-)Angebotspreis war dann doch 20% höher als noch an dem Tag als ich da war. Es war im Dezember auch nur zu ca 20% belegt. Der Service beim Frühstück war sehr aufmerksam und das Frühstück war gut. Ich habe Abends dort nicht gegessen weil ich dabei allen gewesen wäre.... Die Restauranthinweise die insbesondere Kapstadt umfassen machen irgendwie keine Sinn. Dann wohnt man auch nicht in Grabow. ddie Gegend direkt drum herum ist eher uninteressant und man muss etwas bis zur Küste fahren (dann doch eher dort auch wohnen).

Die Lage - umgeben von ca 30 Boutique-Weinfarmen, im räumlich kleinsten von weltweit nur 6 (!)
