Terrible experience in 4 star hotel

Posted Jul 14, 2017 on Hotels
The original room had no where to eat in our room. We upgraded and still had no table or chairs for 2 people. Just a coffee table, and my bed was a sofa lounge. Could not use the lounge. Food wise room service, we had a caesar salad with grilled chicken. There was enough cos letting to sink a battleship, 1 boiled egg the chicken was cold and wet. Disgusting. The next night ordered the Masala with nan bread, the bread was dry and meal was cold. Room service: Poor I must have called 3 to 4 times before someone would answer not once but every time I called. Could not even get a pot of tea or coffee sent to room, had to go to the bar to it. Had to pay extra for parking. Room itself: Average The carpet looked stayed in spots marks on the walls. Rating: NOT 4 STAR, MAYBE 3

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. If you give us a chance to earn back your trust, I can assure you that we will do our best to give you the great hotel experience that so many of our guests have grown so fond of.

Disappointing hotel in Canberra.

Posted Jul 10, 2017
Pros: Not a lot.
Cons: Bring it up into the 90s.
Location: Close to dozens of excellent restaurants at Manuka and Kingston.
The air cond in the room wasn't working. The staff moved us to another room, slightly smaller, with no probs. There were no towels at the pool deck. After traipsing up to reception, they arranged for some to be delivered 20 minutes later. The 10-person spa was all frothed up with brown flecks in the froth. I've stayed in better hotels, for less money, in Zimbabwe.

Close to Manuka

Posted Jul 5, 2017 on Wotif
The hotel while clean and pleasant is starting to show its age. The staff were all friendly and efficient. The ground level King room that I had was old but refurbished but it had a sanitary feel and was far from luxurious or stylish. The A/C was difficult to control and on a typical cold Canberra evening it was at most times too hot causing a restless nights sleep under the ridiculous bed cover arrangements were the quilt cover is not actually attached to the quilt. Power points are also an issue in these older style rooms and I was hunting around the room looking for a point which was not at ground level that would accept my laptop and phone charger. For this point alone I would not recommend this hotel to business travelers. The Fig Tree Restaurant serves a pretty decent breakfast and I had an evening meal which was also fantastic. However the best part about staying at this hotel is its proximity to Manuka and its fabulous Cafes, Restaurants and Boutique Shopping.

Front desk very poor. Room not ready until more than an hour late. We were sitting in the foyer and nobody told us that it was ready. On leaving we were told our credit card was on record, which was wrong and we got an indignant call about an unpaid bill. A good house let down by poor administration.

Hi Michael Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel, i'm disappointed to read that you found the front desk service to be poor. We do our best to try have all rooms ready by 2pm however this is never guaranteed and unfortunately on this occasion your room was not ready upon your arrival which i do apologize for.

Had a great stay

Posted Jun 26, 2017 on Wotif
Loved the pool and spa tub and we got an upgrade on our room!! The bed was so comfy and warm and the room was very clean. However the shower was not very practical as there was no door on the shower presumably for style and water splashed all over the bathroom; and my partner was also finding it hard to fit comfortably in the shower (he is fit and healthy it was just a bit narrow for his shoulders to move around in) but apart from that everything was great and we had a great time, staff was lovely and welcoming and helpful. It's very close to heaps of tourist attractions and does give off a romantic vibe in the room. Also the entrance is beautiful with rotating doors and beautiful flooring makes you feel very glamorous walking in :)

Rydges Capital Hill

Posted Jun 23, 2017 on Wotif
Pros: nothing
Cons: Renovate to bring up to an acceptable standard. Better restaurant facilities & food quality.
Location: Location was good
Hotel very dated and grubby looking. Restaurant food extremely bad, $25 for Breakfast that was inedible. Room was spacious but again grubby looking and furnishings very dated. Really needs a good overall make over, would also suggest they replace the 10 year old television with something a little more to date and perhaps provide some entertainment - movies were not available.
