Mini Adventure to CarcassonnePosted Sep 23, 2015
Pros: The staff were very friendly & helpful, especially the Barman Alexander, who was very good at suggesting local places of interest to visit.
Drove down to Carcassonne & stayed for a couple of nights at Hotel de La Cite. Picked the hotel from reviews as never been to Carcassonne before. Didn't realise that it was actually in the medieval city so was most impressed with the location. We arrive very late but staff on reception were extremely helpful. Room was lovely with great facilities & views. Lovely pool although we didn't get chance to try it. I can't praise the hotel highly enough, just fantastic: location, staff & facilities

Tolles Hotel in 1A-Lage, aber trotz allem etwas überteuert. Leider haben wir von den täglichen lauten Konzerten in der Naehe erst bei Ankunft erfahren...

Beautiful castle hotel right out of a fairytale.Posted Jul 26, 2015
Pros: It's a castle
Cons: Internet cables and workout room
Location: The caves are insane! It would be crazy to come and not visit. Also, if you liked the Da Vinci Code, a visit to Rennes-Le-chateau is crucial.
BUT bring something to plug your computer directly into their internet or you'll spend all day, like a damsel in distress, locked in your room waiting for the "wifi" to accomplish the simplest task. I would have recommended that the hotel, knowing this is an issue, have such cables available for guests. I tried buying this connection cord but none of the two technology stores in the town of Carcassonne had it and as a consequence I spent two days working when I should have had more time to enjoy. Also, they could benefit from a workout facility - a surprising oversite given the otherwise high standards of the hotel including helpful staff and a wonderful restaurant which fully merits its Michelin star.

Staying in the castle is an experience to rememberPosted Jul 7, 2015
Pros: The staff were amazing to me. When I checked out and brought my own luggage there, they told me I should have called so they could help me.
Cons: I can't think of anything. It was a very pleasant stay.
Location: The hotel is inside the medieval city/castle. I walked around and there are many shops and places to eat.
My friend had recommended this hotel to me and initially, the price really made it undesirable. Luckily, the rate eventually went down so I said, sure, why not? It was everything I'd imagined. I was so impressed with the room and service including the restaurant next to my room (Le Jardin). I spent two nights there but would have liked to stay a little bit longer.

Within the Cité wallsPosted Jul 1, 2015
From the moment we drove into the Secure parking we were looked after. Our bags were taken from our car and carried to our room, the reception was very efficient and we were soon shown our room which was lovely. Right in the middle of the Cité we were able to walk straight out of the hotel to sightsee and soak up the atmosphere. Dinner in the square was enchanting.
