Very pleasant stayPosted Oct 30, 2015
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights and had a very pleasant stay. The room was very clean and had been recently refurbished with new oak furniture and a new carpet. Three was also a large flat screen TV in the room. The beds were very comfortable and spacious I never had a evening meal in the restaurant as I was dining out however, I did have breakfast which was of a hot and cold buffet. All of the food was very good and plentiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay here and would definitely recommend this hotel

Good hotel with a good value room rate.Posted Sep 14, 2015
Pros: Good value room rate: a fair price for the room.
Cons: Room decor needs to be updated. New bathroom suite, new carpet.
Location: Visit Usk. Lovely.
We stayed in September 2015 to attend the Usk Show and a good friend's birthday celebrations. The hotel has nice public spaces, and excellent staff. Restaurant is surprisingly decent: good food and pleasant service. We stayed two nights. The bed was comfortable. The hotel is in a rural area so you do need to eat in or you will need to drive. The room decor had recently been freshened up but with some failings: the carpet had holes in it, the standing lamp was at a permanent angle, there were cracks in some bathroom tiles and the bathroom, really, needs complete replacement.

Short breakPosted Aug 14, 2015 on Hotels
Absolutely perfect for taking a short break from the troubles of every day life. The room was great by any means of the word. The outdoor area is well done with enough space to stay on your own, if wanted. Staff is very kind and most flexible in terms of extra requests. The top ranking for the neighborhood is only because there is none. It's out in the green. You definitely need a vehicle, if you want to get there ore explore cities like Bristol (45 minutes) or Bath (1h)

Had a lovely stay here for a friends 40th, the reception staff were brilliant and helpful and the rooms were lovely and big. Great value and the spa is wonderful. We love local to it and I'll definitely be staying again as a treat as you feel like you're on holiday

Nice Gym, Bad BedsPosted Aug 6, 2015
Pros: See above, food OK, gym good, location good, parking good, staff good, room clean
Cons: Food - cooked breakfast a let down and range of bar menu limited. No puddings offered ?!!!!
Location: Middle of nowhere, but convenient for my site inspection in Raglan the next morning !
The hotel is nicely located and reasonably easy to find. It has very good gym facilities for a hotel including a pool and treatment rooms. Prices are a little steep for drinks at the bar, but maybe only typical for the location as there is nowhere else you could go in the immediate vicinity without driving or taking a cab. The food was OK, nothing exceptional and the cooked breakfast was a let down, the ubiquitous powdered "scrambled" eggs, some depressed looking bacon, black pudding and sausage crammed into the same tureen were not a welcoming sight. Staff were polite and helpful - no issues here and all good. The hotel is a little rough around the edges, but the room was clean and well presented. The bed was too soft, and the pillows too hard - cannot recommend the bed set up at all. Hotel grounds look lovely, but overnighters such as myself aren't going to a hotel for a walk are we ? Overall 3 out of 5, areas for improvement.

Surprising FindPosted Aug 2, 2015 on Hotels
Excellent hotel in need of a little attention especially the dining room however the grounds and spa were really good. indeed the swimming pool area appeared to be exceptionally clean. The bedroom was huge with a very comfortable king size bed and the bathroom was also large with the longest bath I have ever sat in! However the best thing about this hotel was the excellent quality of the meals particularly the evening menu. The breakfast buffet was also very good with a full range of items including hash browns and black pudding. All the staff were friendly and attentive. We would certainly go back to this hotel if we are ever in the area.

Comfy, cosy picturesque stay.Posted Jul 28, 2015 on Hotels
Stayed in the hotel while visiting Cardiff so did it use the spa facilities. Staff were very friendly. Location was stunning. Very peaceful & quiet. Room was clean & comfortable. My only concern was a layer of mould on the bathroom ceiling, but no other faults.

It was a beautiful place with good service and great facilities unfortunately it's in the middle of nowhere so if I wanted some cigarettes at midnight then I'm screwed.
