Cardiff at Your Feet!

Posted Sep 5, 2016
Pros: Location, location, location!
Cons: Access to the parking area from the rear of the hotel---rather than dragging luggage along the street for nearly a block.
Location: Cardiff Castle, Brains Brewery, Viva Brazil (Brazilian churrascuria---meats on skewers), St Mary's Street shopping.
The Angel is located in the heart of Cardiff, near the pedestrian shopping area AND directly across the road from Cardiff Castle! The atmosphere is that of the grand hotels of Europe, and the rooms boast air conditioning and well appointed bathrooms and bedrooms. The staff are friendly and helpful. A private, video-surveilled car park is located behind the hotel and the cost of £13 is well worth the price. The breakfast buffet is bountiful and tasty.

Lovely Hotel

Posted Aug 21, 2016
Pros: Its location and its facilities.
Cons: Get the wi-fi sorted so every guest can have it in their rooms.
Location: Close to shops, restaurants and pubs. Everything you could need within walking distance.
The Angel Hotel is really lovely and we have a great room 303. However we cannot get wi-fi in the room (we are the only ones who can't) and consequently have to sit in the corridor if we want to access our phones or laptops. Great way to meet people I must say. We could go down to the lobby but the old lifts take forever and sometimes you just want to send a quick message on WhatsApp, etc. Other than that nuisance (and we are here for 9 days) it really is a great hotel with a lovely buffet for breakfast and the opportunity to order other food if required. Very centrally located, it has the best of everything.

Cardiff hotel close to Millennium Stadium

Posted Aug 9, 2016
Pros: Location, a short walk from railway, close to Millennium stadium and hospitality areas nearby. Good breakfast. Large room.
Cons: Drainage in shower/ bath, very slow. Toilet difficult to flush.
Location: Opposite Cardiff Castle. Short walk from Railway Station, Millennium Stadium, shopping and hospitality areas in Cardiff CBD.
Quick checkin at hotel and up to our the room. Lifts quite small but adequate. Room was larger than expected. Buffet breakfast included in our tariff and very pleased to be offered freshly cooked eggs instead of selection from buffet. All in all a good hotel close to city attractions.

Good location close to the castle

Posted Aug 6, 2016
Pros: It was very comfortable and the location is close to the St. David shopping centre.
Location: Directly opposite the Castle and Cardiff Arms Park, 10 minute walk from the railway station.
My wife and I enjoyed our four day stay. Room was very comfortable and well maintained. We did not dine at the hotel but the breakfast was really enjoyable and piping hot. The staff were very helpful and polite, we certainly would recommend the hotel and hope to return in the near future.

Charming old hotel

Posted Jul 28, 2016
Pros: The Angel Hotel has loads of charm & character & is one of the oldest hotels in Cardiff. Love the 'Titanic staircase' just past reception.!!
Cons: Disable access from the care park & the hire of wheelchairs from reception would be a good Idea. The rooms need tasteful updating.
Location: Cardiff Castle is opposite the hotel, The Rugby Stadium is down the road, & Cardiff shopping is amazing for us girly's & you will never starve.!!
The Angel Hotel, is a beautiful charming old hotel, the reception area & entrance is elegant, the staff are friendly & efficient. The rooms could do with updating but in a loving way so as not to lose the character of the building. Basically you get what you pay for, but I must say it was very comfortable. The breakfast was first class. If you want emmaculate perfect rooms at extortionate prices then the 'Celtic Manor' is for you. (We are local to the area, living 35 miles from Cardiff, we stayed over for a wedding.) Not so good: It is not very disabled friendly, the care park at the rear of the building is quite a way from the main entrance. There is a disabled lift from the street, but it is quite a walk to that from the car park. The interior hotel lifts are very small, & the lady had difficulty getting her wheelchair in & out of it. Over all I would recommend the Angel Hotel for short stays at a reasonable price, you get what you pay for, & in the center of Cardiff City everything is within easy walking distance. You can shop till you drop in Cardiff's wonderful shops & Castle lover's & Rugby fan's would love it.!! Very Enjoyable.

Very Central Cardiff Hotel

Posted Jul 25, 2016
Pros: It`s individuallity. Plenty of character. A beautiful building. Also it being very central.
Cons: Refurbishment of carpets.
Location: Everything is very close. Castle, St David`s Hall, shops with beautiful arcades, Museums and right opposite is the boat to take you to the Bay.
We loved the position of the Hotel, close to the castle and all amenities. Our room was absolutely huge and comfortable. The staff were very helpful . The fact that it is in need of refurbishment did not spoil our visit. It was lovely to find an individual Hotel. We look forward to our next visit. Well done !

Good location but No value for money!

Posted Jul 9, 2016 on Hotels
The hotel is above budget/chain hotels in terms of price however the room that we got had no air conditioning (broken) and the main lock was a key lock! Other rooms had card key locks. The reason we were given was that there were no other rooms. The receptionist was very friendly however he did not let us know that there is only a fan in the room and the air conditioning does not work. We still paid the full price for budget service. Location was good with paid parking and the breakfast was fresh.

Nice hotel, clean, good staff.

Posted Jul 6, 2016
Had a lovely stay, staff were friendly and room was good and clean! Only 3 to channels of random choice (but made no odds to us- as didn't spend time watching tv) bar was nice with reasonable prices, lovely grand entrance. All in all a good hotel.
