Nice, clean option for a moderate-priced LI hotel
Posted Feb 10, 2017
I was only staying one night, but I was happy to find this place. Typically I steer away from hotels in Nassau County - they are all old and grungy. This was a nice surprise. However, when I checked in, I was told that I had been upgraded to a better suite (not necessary, but okay)....it was all the way up on the 4th floor and a far walk from the elevator. I already had to walk back down once because i couldn't get the key to work (no problem, but I think the staff should let people know how the doors work - it was not obvious). It ended up not being the key, but user error. When I walked in, the room smelled like it was a smoking room. Not sure if it was or if the smoke smell was coming from another suite - but nonetheless, it was not that pleasant. I was too tired (it was late), and I didn't want to walk back downstairs again - since it was only one night. So, I dealt with it. The 4th floor also had an odd odor, but I think it was because someone had been cooking dinner in one of the suites on the floor. Otherwise, my stay was fine.

Thank you for staying with us at the Homewood Suites Carle Place and for your feedback. We do our best to try and upgrade as many as our guests complimentary as a way to say thank you. I apologize that the room you were given was far away from the lobby and about the smell of smoke in the room. We are a non smoking facility, but unfortunately there are some guests who do not abide by the rules. We will take your comments under consideration and try to get any odors or smells out of our rooms before putting new guests into them. We hope to see you again soon.
