The proximity of this hotel to Carmel shops and dining was great. The reception desk staff was pleasant upon arrival. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast basket delivered to the room was a nice treat. The room was in need of some TLC and was very dark. There was only one window and it was the only access we had to ventilation as there is no air conditioning. The window had no screen and we were on the ground floor. There was coffee in the room but our coffee maker was missing the carafe. Our bed and bed sheets were up against an exposed electrical outlet with no cover. Not a place I would return to.

hotel in good location

Pros: location, clean
Cons: Exterior needs some work
Location: Close to ocean ave and shops.Beautiful are to walk around
Hotel is close to ocean ave.Its a good walk to the beach,however walking is good for you and its beautiful. The hotel rooms have been updated.The young man who checked us in was very nice. Enjoyed are stay.Cant beat the price.

Bed bugs

Pros: Can't remember anything good after the situation we experienced.
Cons: Well for starters they can make sure their hotel isn't infested with bed bugs... Perhaps also any semblance of concern for their guest's wellbeing.
Location: Beautiful sunset and nice beach. Some cute boutique shops and nice restaurants.
Everything seemed fine up until we found bed bugs upon waking up... We were both eaten alive and are still covered in bites! We were told by the person working at the front desk that the manager was called and was driving down right away to check on the situation and that we would be notified either by email or phone call regarding a refund but have yet to hear a word from anyone even after writing to the hotel directly to let them know of the situation. Really not pleased at the level of customer service (or lack-there-of) and even less pleased that we are still in discomfort from the ordeal. Would never recommend this hotel to anybody, especially since it was not cheap! Hopefully the bed bug situation was taken care of otherwise future guests can expect a lovely morning of insects and blood in their beds...

Not a bad deal

Nice quiet hotel. Close to gray shopping and dining. Nice trek from the beach but a very enjoyable walk. John at the Front Desk was excellent. I will definitely stay there again.

Dangerous for children, no AC

The room was average. However there was an uncovered electrical socket that a child could put a finger into. Also the hot water was so hot scalding is likely especially for children. I notified the city and fire dept. About these so hopefully they will be corrected. They also charge your credit card >25 for an "incidental" charge. I asked what it was for and the owner said "it is incidental". I do not believe that is what ""incidental charges" are supposed to be. And the last thing about this hotel is that there is NO AC or window screen so a summer nights stay is not recommended.

Regarding the $26 charge for the incidental, that $26 charge is not actually a charge and in fact a hold that the choice system automatically takes when we swiped your card. The hold is automatic and not manually done, and as such is cleared from your account within a few business days. We apologize that this was not made clear to you when you asked and we have informed our team on how to better handle this in the future. Thank you again for informing us about your stay.
