Nice retreat

Posted Sep 18, 2017
Pros: Lovely staff and surroundings
Cons: The menu could include some Scottish traditional dishes as there were a conciderable number of foreign visitors.
Location: Beaches long costal walks. Historic Arbroath and Abbey. Vibrant Dundee
Excellent hotel with comfortable and relaxing surroundings. Staff very polite and friendly. Helpful and knowledgeable in the local area. Spa facilities excellent along with gym, pool, sauna and steam room. Bubble spa also. Well appointed hotel. Would stay again .

Only proper 'Hotel' in the area....lucky for them

Posted Sep 5, 2017
Pros: Very little. Only redeeming feature is it's location. The golf course isn't theirs. I would hope that they will have upped their game in time to host
Cons: Lots. All beds should be king size., even the budget hotels offe More chefs at breakfast time Customer service training. Staff clueless abou t this
Location: Dundee is quite interesting as is Arbroath and Broughty Ferry. There is nothing of interest in Carnoustie itself apart from. The golfing
Had to pay extra for twin room.Small single beds ok for a child, not adult.Mattress incredibly soft,no support at all. Did not have good nights sleep. Breakfast chaotic. Apparently they only have one chef on for breakfast and 5 for dinner! Should be the other way round. Breakfast food wise nothing to rave about, missed opportunity to showcase local produce, as to my mind, £15 is not exactly cheap., but Scottish breakfast OK. ..Mine arrived warm rather than piping hot No choice if bread for continental breakfast, just tired looking white baguette. Staff at spa/pool friendly. Pool smaller than it looks on website. Have to take own toiletries to pool. In all othe hotels I've visited, these are provided for guests.

Nice Hotel, on the edge of the famous golf course.

Posted Sep 2, 2017
Pros: The hotel location was perfect for us on this trip, the staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable .
Cons: Some of the bedroom furniture needs to be replaced, but i suspect this will happen before the Open 2018, which is to be played at Carnoustie.
Location: The hotel's location is well placed to easily visit Aberdeen, Banchory, Balmoral and the Highlands on a day trip.
Nice hotel, comfortable bedroom and bathroom was very practical and of a high standard. The uneven numbered hotel rooms overlook the car park and the even numbered rooms have views of the golf course. Breakfast was plentiful and varied in choices, from hot food to cereal and pastry. All of the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. As long as you do not have expectations of a five star hotel, you will not be disappointed. Overall we had a really good stay and would return again if we are in the area ...

Great hotel for the price

Posted Aug 24, 2017
Had a great overnight break. View over the golf course with balcony was worth paying the extra. Room service was great (same menu as the bar menu). A couple of downsides were that the bed was very soft and being 8 months pregnant, my back was very sore following our stay. Also the pool could do with an upgrade but had everything that you'd need. However the staff were lovely and overall it was a relaxing break.

Nice room over the 18th geeen.

Posted Aug 24, 2017
Pros: Old world charm. Also so close to the golf course. Great bed and good shower.
Cons: When we arrived there was a wedding on,the receptionist was preoccupied didn't give us any information about our room. Just gave us our key.
Location: Lots of short drives to small local villages, with good walks.Found some fish called smokie which is a local delicacy. Very nice.
The food was a surprise very good. But was disappointed we couldn't get a table on the Sunday night, after playing golf we wanted a quick meal and a early night. We weren't told to book ,we went to bed without a meal. Loved the area lots to do and see.

Anniversary break

Posted Aug 17, 2017
Pros: The staff are brilliant and work really hard to ensure your stay is fantastic
Cons: The menu was exciting and varied with some lovely meals but the steaks offered let it down
Location: It's a golfers paradise and close by is a firing range if you are into that, close to Dundee and the train service is excellent.
We booked a room with a balcony and had probably the best view from the hotel overlooking the 18th green of the championship course. The room was very well presented, clean and the balcony was a treat to sit out on. The food was excellent but the steak we ordered left something to be desired it's something else when your tomato is bigger than the steak! The staff were exceptionally helpful throughout the weekend. We even had room service a couple of times and never waited more than 15 minutes which was brilliant. Everything said we couldn't stay at Carnoustie without playing one of the courses, the Buddon course was a treat to play. We will definitely be back again, what a great anniversary weekend it was!
