Basic no frills hotel

Posted Jul 18, 2015
Pros: location, price
The City Center Hotel is fine for meeting your basic needs. Facility is a bit run-down but better than many along this strip, but the beds were very comfortable and the room was quiet!

Stale and uncomfortable

Posted Jul 16, 2015
The building smelled stale and old as soon as you walked in. Most of the staff, including who I assumed to be the manager, was unfriendly. The room was clean but uncomfortable. The bathroom was arranged inefficiently as the mirror was in one spot and an ineffective shelf in another. I would not stay here again.

Older hotel in the center of town

Posted Jul 13, 2015
Pros: Centrally located, we were able to walk around downtown.
Cons: Maybe some upgrading on the dark interior lobby. New mattresses.
Location: Right across the street is the Nevada Mint museum, and the Children's Museum. Historic towns and museums are within a few miles of scenic driving.
We booked very late for July 4th. We got the last room, a smoking room. We were able to open the window and air it out....the bonus to this was listening to the town hall clock chime and play the Star Spangle Banner! The staff were very friendly. The traditional "Wine Walk" was just finishing, but we were offered a glass in spite of not paying for the festivities. We enjoyed the town's fireworks, Mass at St. Teresa of Avila, bought lemonade from kids on the corner...all in all Carson City was a very "Americana" experience. Little downer..the bed was lumpy.

Affordable and comfortable stay

Posted Jul 12, 2015
Pros: Clean, affordable, comfortable bed
Cons: Dated rooms
Location: We were visiting and spend two full days on the Lake with this hotel as our simple accommodation to get some sleep!
Needed somewhere affordable to say for a last minute trip to Tahoe - 30 min drive from the North Shore, and much cheaper than accommodation around the Lake! Basic but comfortable, only used this as a place to get a good night's sleep!

Kind of an old hotel. They even use keys to your room. Keys, not cards! The cable would "reboot" every-so-often, which was annoying. The staff didn't seem to have any uniform, so you can't really tell if they work there are not. Very casual. The location, I have to say, was pretty good.

Walking distance to the State Museum

Posted Jul 5, 2015
We were going to a concert at Harvey's, and wanted a place to check into the state's history. The hotel is 2 blocks away from the state museum, where the exhibits show folks all about the mining and early settlements of the state. You can take a tour of a replica of an old mine. To add more history to your visit, the State Capitol building is 4 blocks from this hotel. Culture at its finest. It takes roughly 25 minutes to drive into South Lake Tahoe from this hotel, and they have considered adding a shuttle service. The staff is extremely friendly, and they go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel.

Not bad it just feels a little creepy.

Posted Jul 2, 2015
The rooms were fine for the price, the staff was very friendly as well. The whole place just had a little bit of a creepy weird feeling ... can't quite put my finger on it though ... not bad for the price I'd say.

A Pleasant Drive from Tahoe

Posted Jun 29, 2015
Pros: Well priced and conveniently located. Has a refrigerator in every room.
Location: Hotel is located on Hwy 50 in downtown Carson City, close to restaurants and shopping. Lake Tahoe is 20 minutes away. Railroad and Children's Museums.
Visit Zephyr Cove on Lake Tahoe without paying Zephyr Cove prices. Room was clean, comfortable and located close to both restaurants and grocery stores in Downtown Carson City. The hotel is lighter on the amenities but has a nice fitness center and serves good coffee.

The Center of everything good in Carson City

Posted Jun 27, 2015
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable beds and clean all around. Walking distance to the best part of the town... The Nugget!
Cons: I kinda expected to have a hair dryer. The ones that are attached to the wall in the bathrooms. Also a door latch lock.
Location: Centrally located. Walking distance to the Carson City Mint / Museum, popular restaurants, Nugget Casino. 30 minutes to Reno, Tahoe, Virginia City.
A four day visit to the CC Mint and all the surrounding places ,Tahoe, Reno, Virginia City, etc. We were looking for a place to stay on-line at a reasonable price. Expedia gave the best offers. But it was the phone call to this hotel that made us comfortable to stay. The person was so helpful and friendly. It is small enough so there's not a concern of walking a great length if that's a problem for some. The rooms are clean with small refrigerator and a coffee pot :) Many places no longer have those amenities. We were extremely happy with this choice of hotel.
