The staff was very nice, but 2 out of the 4 of us became very ill with food poisoning from the seafood eaten there. The other 2 people got sick once we returned to the U.S. Although the staff was very nice to us and said to call if we needed anything, I could not drink/eat for 3 days while I was there. I do not know if we became ill because of the food at this resort or if it was Colombian food in general, but I would not go back there as a result of this experience.

Regarding the situation manifesting the hotel may not have control of foods that are consumed outside the hotel, the investigation that led and effectively identified people group came to the city, on the other hand this type was carried out Hotel guest must measure the amount of food consumed in large quantities because some foods can cause medical complications that are not cause alerts are poisoning the food quality. There have been no similar cases which ensures that the controls and procedures applied to avoid such situations. The worse All inclusive that I have every stayed.

Posted Jan 26, 2016
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
Location: Nothing nearby, must catch taxi or shuttle to city.
The staff is very rude and slow. The room is very basic and I got the Executive Suite. They do not have ocean view, it is barely a partial view of the ocean. It almost impossible to get room to your room Everyday was a hassle for me to go downstairs to get coffee to bring to my room. There are to many rules and they are not clear on all the rules. Was constantly always arguing with staff and management on little stupid things. For example, could not get a towel at the pool. We are talking about a $1.00 towel, when I paying over $300.00 a day. Give me a break. So I got angry and took the towel. Grant it is wrong, but at this point I was tired of the service at this hotel. To resolve the issue they send five guys over to my pool chair and tried to scare me. Well I don't scare to easy, so I was very angry. Want go into details on what was said, but the issue could have been resolve with one person. The management was there and he spoke english, but was no help at all. The food was terrible!!!!

Disappointing All-inclusive

Posted Dec 28, 2015
As you walk into this hotel, your expectations will naturally be fairly high, especially since it appears they spent a large portion if their budget on the entryway and its large modern fountain... But, after checking in, you'll be taken to your room that will undoubtedly stink of mildew (we overlooked this in almost every other review, and thought "how bad can it be?", but it is STRONG), and see the beds that laid out on two uncomfortable concrete slabs. You'll probably then hear your neighbors talking, just talking, since their is hardly any insulation between adjoining rooms. It's loud! Then, your probably going to be hungry after your journey, so go you'll venture down to the restaurant area. If you don't make a reservation in the morning for dinner at one of their 3 restaurants (usually only 2 are open), then you'll need to get their buffet option. On day one, you will be forced into this option since you couldn't reserve in the morning :). The buffet was mostly what we ate the whole time, and it was much worse than food you'd find anywhere else in town.. Well, at least they have a pool right? And a beach? And a shuttle to downtown? These things are the pros of the hotel, but if you think harder, every hotel in Cartagena has these things and you can save your money and time by reserving a hotel near downtown. It's not worth spending the extra cash to stay at an all-inclusive when you can get very reasonably priced and MUCH better food and drinks at another hotel..

great stay, even with a little bit of mold

Posted Dec 4, 2015 on Hotels
This is a great hotel - we had a wonderful time. I am pretty picky with hotels, but I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends. The pool and beach areas were very nice, and the food was good. Service was fantastic. And, a free shuttle to the walled city was included. The only reason why I didn't rate the hotel higher is because the room I stayed at had some mold (although it didn't have that "moldy" smell). There was quite a bit of mold in the bathroom, and a part of the ceiling was even damp and felt soft, like it could break. Also, one day our room was cleaned but we didn't receive new towels or toilet paper, so we had to call the front desk to get those and wait for a while. But, overall it was a great experience, the hotel was very relaxing and the hotel grounds were very nice and clean.

Nice resort

Posted Sep 10, 2015
Clean beach, clean resort, food was a little bland. Would have loved more ethnic/typical Colombian food. Also from 10am-11:30am there is no food being served anywhere on premises. Kind of disappointing

The reputation Colombia must have!

Posted Aug 29, 2015
Pros: The pool and value.
Cons: The staleness in the rooms, very evident mustiness !
Location: While it wasn't near anything, it was perfect seclusion ! The shuttle bus to old town was the bomb, we took it to the city (part of ) everyday
Without a lot of adjectives, this was an amazing value at a great resort. As we traveled through Colombia the kindness and cleanliness were more than note worthy! Our stay here was greeted with warmth and knowledge! Our Spanish is just about ok, yet everyone did go out of their way to understand. From booking tours to airline check in .......our experience was primo! The front desk crew rocked it!

Excellent hotel good food and private beach.

Posted Aug 23, 2015
Great hotel, good food, nice beach, and pools. Long way from the city free bus transport is good for small groups. Not easy to get taxis from the city and sometimes even from the hotel! Hotel taxis are very helpful. You can not be spontaneous. Plan your city trips and reserve the bus well in advance. Taxis will cost about $50 us round trip it can get expensive. plan for 45 minutes each way as there is construction on the road. Beautiful city love the old city!! If you want to be in and around the city this is not the hotel for you! Great for a relaxing vacation. They are building a new hotel closer to the city when this is complete i recommend using this hotel to everyone.
