Great hotel in a great location!Posted Apr 22, 2016 on Hotels
This hotel was beautiful and right in the old city! They hotel staff was extremely accommodating and helpful. There was a city wide power outage on our last night and they did everything possible to make sure we were still comfortable. They did have back up generators as well which helped us with lighting during the outage.

Nice boutique hotel, poor customer servicePosted Apr 6, 2016 on Hotels
Hotel Casa Canabal is a nice place. Great room, nice pool and patio area on the rooftop. The only gripe I have is their customer service. Our room didn't have hot water the morning of our check-out. We had hoped to get an early start to our day and sneak in a couple of sightseeing before our flight. Asked the front desk about the problem and it took them 20 minutes and me coming down 3 different times to finally get an answer that the water heater was broken. They told us to wait an hour for them to fix it, but did not offer any apology for the inconvenience. We had to wait it out and it worked about an hour later.

Oasis in CartagenaPosted Mar 13, 2016
Casa Canabal is an absolutely beautiful hotel located in a wonderful part of the walled city. The rooms were spacious, welcoming, and clean. We were most impressed with the staff and their courteousness; Manuel and Jhonny truly made us feel comfortable and taken care of during our entire stay.

Beautiful Boutique Hotel with Room for ImprovementPosted Nov 26, 2015
I stayed here for 4 nights in November. Overall, it was a good experience but a few minor details could of made it excellent. Pros: - Comfortable beds - Very nice showers with great water pressure - Good AC and fan - Great concierge service, knowledgable and friendly staff - Nice lobby area and well decorated - Rooftop pool and lounge area was nice - Central location in Getsmani close to the Old Town and many convenience stores / restaurantes / bars nearby. Cons: - Noise was a huge issue as they were renovating the lobby at the time of my stay and construction noises were heard as early as 7am which did not allow me to sleep in - WIFI was weak and slow in the lobby / restaurant area. - WIFI was non-existent in the rooms and there was no signal in the rooms Overall, the hotel was decent value and if you can live with a poor internet connection, I would recommend staying at this hotel.

Location: Good location. Nearby the clock tower and walking distance for other points of interests. Clean, really good service, worth the expense.
I loved this place. Relaxing ambiance and good service from the people

Bait & SwitchPosted Aug 8, 2015 on Hotels
My first terrible experience via hotels.com. We had a confirmed room & when we arrived the hotel staff told us the AC was out in the room assigned to us & they had emailed us the night before. This was an obvious lame attempt to excuse their overbooking. My obviously pregnant wife & I were given a map & told to walk across town to their "sister" hotel where a reservation could accommodate. The hotel would not provide Transport or pay for a cab & so we towed all of our heavy luggage across town in the heat of the day. The silver lining of the change is that the new hotel is in a safer area, but the room quality is far less than what I expected (very small, cheap/minimal fixtures & accommodations & smells of mold). Of course, for all of this trouble, we are expected to pay the same rate that we would have paid at Casa Canabal with no apology or offer of recompense by any means from Casa Canabal. When a hotel overbooks & sends you to their lower quality sister hotel & you pay the same rate without the original hotel providing any payment out of pocket, it makes it very hard to believe that it is simply a mistake & not a money-making scheme on their part to take the bookings from their more popular hotel & allocate them to their less popular hotel. My concern is that all of this is being facilitated through a trusted site like hotels.com. There are many excellent hotel options in Cartagena don't let this hotel take those options from you the way they did to us.

Very nice in less expensive less touristy area.Posted Jul 19, 2015
Pros: Exceptional service and comfy beds. Location is away from street sellers and tourist pricing.
Cons: Airport taxi service would be helpful.
Location: Less expensive restaurants with good food. Havana club is a local favorite on the corner. Italian restaurant above Havana club is very good.
Vey well managed. First class service from the minute you check in until you leave. English spoken very well. Nice clean rooms with 5star beds. AC, Wi-Fi , Hot water all work very well. You must eat dinner in the wonderful on-site restaurant downstairs. We invited friends to have cocktails and see the view in the roof top lounge. Awesome! After five 4star hotels in four Colombian cities in 18 days...Finally NO complaints. Every where else we went the people are wonderful, BUT... Its the management that is lacking. NOT SO HERE! Casa Canabal Hotel is a great experience in every way.
