Great location, Great staff, Authentic Cartagena

Posted Jan 18, 2017 on Hotels
The area was easy walking distance to the walled city, but also very close to the more authentic Cartagena. Just a block away was a Church town square where all the locals gather at night, there is street food & music. The hotel is lovely, family run place. Very safe and secure, clean, nothing too fancy but it was perfect for our budget and the staff was incredibly nice and accommodating. They do not speak English so have your google translate ready. We also went through the hotel to set up a day trip to Playa del Blanca and to the Mud Volcano. Both were great trips and picked us up at the hotel the next morning. The common space had hammocks and a small pool to lounge by. Take a nap in the hammock and read a book!

5 day stay, room was good, staff very friendly, breakfast tasty. This is a no frills hotel so don't expect more than a clean room, A/C, wifi, cable TV. This is what may have been a large older private home that has been joined to another on the opposite side street. There are only 11 guest rooms so you have much privacy and it was quiet. The lounge areas are plentiful for folks to relax or meet. There is a pool but don't expect to do laps, it is a plunge pool and looked inviting but we didn't try. Our room was on the second floor in the front building (202). immediately above it is an open air deck for smoking and viewing the beautiful neighborhood and skyline. The room was large and comfortable, bathroom was a bit tight but very useful, was surprised to see no hot water for the shower but that was a minor and not an inconvenience. Staff was helpful, the woman who appears to be in charge was kind enough to loan us some towels to take to the beach (Thank you). After hours, you must ring the door bell to get in, was not a problem. Breakfast was good, they will cook eggs for you.

Excellent location at a quiet corner of Getsemani, perhaps the best location in Cartagena since all others were packed with tourists or locals until late in the night. Nice simple room with AC, fan, safe. Clean pool. Well maintained facilities. Breakfast, however, should improve, from the quality of food to the place where the tables are located, close to a noisy kitchen and with hotel staff moving in and out constantly. Besides that I recommend this hotel.

Great location, good WiFi connection, strong ac, and reasonable price. Would give it 5 stars but the rooms were small, breakfast was a bit plain, and there was a surprise water charge at the end

It was a little far from the downtown attractions, especially for the price. But nice hote and nice staff.

Very nice hotel especially for the price. Clean, good bed, good air con, great location, friendly staff, all good. As a gringo I would have liked hot water but the cold water was not cold. I will return.

the location was great, nice to be out of the walled old city and be in a real neighborhood. Hotel is older and our room was small.

Reasonable for the price

Posted Jun 24, 2015
This hotel was reasonable for the price paid. The free breakfast was just coffee and fruit. While the owners chihuahuas are cute they bark every time someone comes to the front door and can be heard throughout the hotel, even late at night. They also seemed to like doing their business on the second floor of the front part of the hotel so watch where to step. The air conditioned room I stayed in was quite nice and kept clean. If you don't speak Spanish don't expect to get much help with local attractions or restaurants.
