Loud A/C unit, heavy perfume trying to mask odor

Posted May 11, 2016 on Hotels
Business trip we had two rooms, both on the ground floor room. The air conditioning in my room was LOUD. It cycled on and off frequently enough that it was difficult to get to sleep. Combine the noise with the persistent smell of a cleaning chemical with a heavy perfume/incense and I was not able to get to sleep for a couple of hours. Bed and linen was good for the price, once I finally got to sleep. Room seemed clean but sink fixture had not been truly cleaned in some time. There was a buildup that made it look like it had just been wiped down with a towel. Desk clerk was efficient during checkin. Didn't use any facilities as we got in late and just went to rooms to sleep. Complimentary breakfast had been wiped out. We came in breakfast an hour after it started and the included breakfast had been wiped out with no one attempting to refill/replace anything so we left. Several fast food breakfast places are close by the hotel. I'd go back if have to but won't be looking forward to it.

Comfy, clean, but maintenance dude has gone AWOL

Posted May 4, 2016 on Hotels
Hotel is nicely situated near Rome's downtown area, and its prices are affordable, as per others in the same chain. The room itself was clean, quiet and the beds were comfy. However, what let it down for us was the lack of basic maintenance. The light in the bathroom gave off a loud buzzing sound when lit, and obviously people had been hitting it to try to shut it up as it was coming loose from the wall. Also, the door chain was not properly afixed (a potential security concern), the Wi-Fi constantly kept going down and on our last night there didn't work at all (all instances were blamed on their cable company, which apparently was MY job to ring them and report it!), and finally the in-room safe didn't work as it was missing a battery. Despite my reporting to reception on our first morning about the safe, it was not fixed for the 3 days that we were there. These are small things that really should just work, but when they don't are annoying.

Gehminuten entfernt. Mit dem Auto kommt man auch schnell an eine Shoppingmal.

Missing remote in room and staff had it to our door in less than 5 minutes after call.
