Cebu Parklane in comparison to other Cebu Hotels
Posted Feb 5, 2017
I stayed at 4 different hotels in Cebu, so I have some perspective now since my initially negative assessment of the Parklane. So the first impression I had was not good - both myself and my sister were not given the rooms we reserved. Both of us had reserved king size beds and she had upgraded her room (booked months in advance). They put us both in standard queen size rooms and didn't apologize, refund, or try to make up for it in any way.
However, the Parklane was very clean, comfortable, had a delicious breakfast buffet, and most importantly, it had hot water. We westerners think that hot water is standard at every hotel, but it's not! We stayed at St Mark and the Crown Regency, and both only provided lukewarm water, which REALLY annoyed me. While both of the other hotels were very nice, I would have given up all of the benefits of those hotels for hot water.
One final positive note - My sister left hundreds of dollars worth of electronics and clothing in her hotel room closet and safe. While it was a little difficult working with the staff on it, they retrieved the goods and returned them 2 days later. We thought they would have been stolen. By the end of our trip, while the city is unsanitary and chaotic, we found that most of the Filipino people are good and honorable and we would go back.
