Across the street from the Academy of Music.

Posted Jan 15, 2018
Pros: The friendly and helpful staff and location are the 2 positives of this hotel.
Cons: The rooms could use a remodel and new mattresses.
Location: This location was great I walked a few blocks to my class at Jefferson. The Academy of Music is across the street. Reading Terminal Market is close.
The hotel staff were very helpful. You could not ask for any better service. The room was dated. The bed was hard. The location was very convienent. I was on the 8th floor and the night the Eagles won you would have thought I was on the street. It was excessively loud. I really did not expect being 8 floors up for the sound to be so loud. It was winter and if you like it warm you will be pleased. I could not get the heat to go off. I was hot. I would stay there again because the staff were friendly and helpful. I have been told Eagle fans can be loud. lol.

The first room was very cold. The building is older and shows its age in the quality of the windows. Thankfully the staff could accommodate my family in a different rom.

Prepared for Mummer's parade

Posted Jan 8, 2018
Pros: Location, room size and comfort.
Location: Right downtown on Broad Street. Can walk to numerous places.
I was there for the New Year's Mummers parade and the hotel location was great. Plus there is an indoor area for viewing which is convenient. However, valet parking was suspended during that period, and it was hard to get help to unload luggage when arriving. Generally, you were on your own for logistics.

Nice hotel to stay for Eagles games

Posted Jan 7, 2018
Pros: Location and view.
Cons: Two lights in the bathroom were out.
Location: Within a ten minute walk to City Hall, a bunch of local and chain stores for shopping, and many restaurants to try.
We picked this hotel because we were going to an Eagles game and did not want to drive. The subway was so convenient to take from the location of this hotel, it's literally a few steps away. We also had the pleasure to experience the Mummers Parade during our stay. We had a corner room with a great view since it was too cold to experience it from outside this year. They also extended check out until 4:00 P.M. on New Years Day, so you are able to stay later to enjoy the parade. We would definitely come back again. Only issue was waiting in line for an elevator on NYE and NYD.

Double Tree Philadelphia

Posted Jan 3, 2018
We stayed from 12/31-1/2. When we first arrived there was not much parking, but we were able to luckily find a spot. The elevator to the parking garage was fine on the first day. We got to our room after checking in and noticed that there was only one roll of toilet paper to be used. Like why weren’t there a few other rolls there? We had two other friends visit us on 1/1 and the hotel required them to pay $20 each to get into the hotel. Like really? You’re going to charge $20 just to get into the hotel to go to a friends room? Talk about a huge scam that is. The last day we wanted to use a luggage cart to carry our bags to the car, but guess what, you had to ask for a bell boy to help you out. They don’t give them to guests. This we thought was strange. We had to use the elevator again to get to our car and it was not in working order, which then in turn took us longer to get out. The hotel was clean, but they could really stop being money seekers.

Hi Ron, Thank you for the feedback. The $20 fee for outside guests included two drink tickets at the bar and in/out privileges during the parade. We put this system in place first and foremost for guest security. With hundreds of revelers on our front step on NYE it is our responsibility to maintain the safety of our paying guests. We have a limited number of bell carts and close to 500 sleeping rooms. If we were to allow guests to take the carts we would have no idea where they were going, if/when they were being returned, and where they were being left. It's as simple as that. We're sorry for the delays you faced at the adjacent public garage and we hope that you'll consider a future stay with us.

Price of a 5-Star Hotel But None of the Amenities

Posted Jan 2, 2018
I understand the increase in rates during holidays. That said, we found our stay at the DoubleTree disappointing. We spent over $300 a night on average and still were saddled with a $10 a day Internet fee, $30 a day parking, brown hot water, and a room where one of two climate units had no controls (stuck on heat). The staff were friendly and the hotel is central to a lot of great things downtown, but this will be our last stay at the DoubleTree.

Nice hotel in the middle of the city

Posted Dec 30, 2017
The room of the hotel is quite spacious for king bed. The staff was friendly. The location is pretty strategic, it close to the independence hall, and other tourist attractions. Near the hotel there is a parking place where you can go in and out for $30.
