Awesome Hotel for an overnighter

Posted Sep 17, 2017
My sister and I stayed at this hotel as we prepared for our Cruise. The staff was wonderful as they had our cab ready for pickup in the morning of. They call you by name every time they see you. Rooms are very clean. A home away from home. I would stay here again!

Classic building style, converted from an old bank

Posted Sep 7, 2017
Pros: -Comfortable bed -Spacious room -Quiet hallways, minimal street noise -Proximity to Ruby Slipper !
Cons: -Housekeeping timing, discretion and sensitivity -Pool maintenance
Location: Just outside French Quarter - about a 10min walk at the most into the action, and definitely positione quietly outside the mayhem
Overall, a positive experience, though there were a few things to mention: - housekeeping were inconsistent, with timing of room cleaning (once they didn't come at all).. another time I had the 'do not disturb' sign on the door but they left the used breakfast trays (for many rooms on my level) on the floor outside the rooms all day and night. Housekeeping staff seemed to be occupied with other tasks - like inventory counting - randomly during the morning, only entering the room to take stock. Did they really need to check how many lamps were in the room at that moment? Did they suspect I'd run out after my stay with a lamp? Lol. - The pool had not been cleaned in a while, turning me off a swim each time I went to use it - Included breakfast was simple, croissants and tea/coffee/juice. - Front desk staff were cheery and helpful at all times - The doorman also deserves a mention for his relaxed and helpful presence. Thanks.

Southern Hospitality

Posted Sep 2, 2017
St. James is a well located, safe, and hospitable hotel. Walking distance to everything (my mother is 63 and she had no problems) and safe! The staff are absolutely lovely, right down to the housekeeping. The breakfast is a nice touch because it's brought to your room...and yes the croissants are plenty enough! Warm, buttery, and with jam. Yum! The only request would be to have one later time slot for the breakfast for the late-nighters who want to sleep in. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family, and when I come back I will be staying here again! Thank you front-desk ladies! You are stunningly beautiful!!!!

We had a great time staying in this hotel. Bed is comfortable, room is clean and staff are very friendly. The complimentary breakfast was nice and they will deliver it to your room. The area is close to Jackson Square, museums , factory outlet and Bourbon st. I would visit here again.

Breakfast in bed!

Posted Aug 21, 2017
Pros: breakfast in bed
Cons: Add a bar
Location: Around the corner from a Brazilian restaurant, a convenience type store and easy walk to shopping.
Honestly, my favorite part of being here was the fact that you can have breakfast delivered , no extra charge! It was "European style!" We loved the room. The distance away from our activities was decent and the hotel was quaint yet modern. No complaints. The king size bed was nice too! Be prepared to valet for extra fee or there are lots directly across and down the street that offer a lower rate. We would stay again!

Nice hotel deeply rooted in culture

Posted Aug 17, 2017
If you are looking for a hotel that is going to give you a great experience it is the St.James. Now I truly enjoyed my stay at this wonderful hotel. Now granted the staff will try to valet your car. Don't let them there is a parking lot across the street that is perfectly fine.

Best Location in N'Orleans

Posted Jul 31, 2017
Pros: The Staff were always so pleasant and helpful, their southern charm and hospitality was most welcoming.
Cons: The closing mechanism on the doors to prevent constant slamming should be addressed.
Location: Great location, close to several popular restaurants, short walk to Canal Street where you can hop on the Trams and buses.
Quaint Beautiful Historic Hotel. My Late Night check-in was seamless and pleasant. The Hotel doesn't have a kitchen but a local restaurant, open 24hours, will deliver to the Lobby. The room was comfortable and clean, with nice wooden floors, which I just love, as I'm opposed to funky carpeting. Shower was spacious and clean, with good water pressure, and plenty of hot water. I mention all this coz often an issue, and can be an inconvenience during an extended stay. There is a lovely lounge, common area, with lots of books and magazines about N'Orleans. Great area for coffee in the morning, overlooking Magazine Street, if you want to get out of the room, work on your Laptop, with free Wi-Fi. Hotel is located perfectly for convenience to local restaurants and trams for transport. Unfortunately, there was some downside. The doors to the rooms have this huge gap between the door and the floor where one would slide in the morning newspaper, so all the noise from the corridor between the rooms can be heard quite clearly, people coming and going, and therefore unable to sleep in the mornings, Housekeeping being the worst culprit with the slamming of the doors, cause the doors have a loaded spring, instead of a self closing mechanism, that can be adjusted for a silent gentle closing. So every morning the slamming of the doors as housekeeping went from Room to Room, yelling Housekeeping, Housekeeping, so I had to get up everyday, when Housekeeping arrived on the scene.
