Very Glad we chose the St James

We came for jazz and cuisine, we fell in love with the city and the friendliness of the people. The staff at the St James were welcoming and professional, and we really appreciated all that they did for us. Any minor deficits were dealt with in short order. The hotel is very well located, within walking or easy transit of everything we wanted to do. We will be back, both to New Orleans and the St James.

i found out the AC didn't work after i checked in; the room was really cold, and it took the staff a long time to come and help us fix the problem. After I complained to expedia about my experience, the hotel staff has reached me several times to apologize and make sure the AC work well. I feel so much better about the hotel considering their response to customer feedback

Perfect hotel in NOLA!

Staff Michaelle and Pedro were amazing! We stayed four nights and you would have thought we had lived there for years! We were greeted by name when we walked through the lobby! The checkin process was lovely; Michaelle asked what we were interested in and walked us through a map of the city while circling things she thought we may enjoy. Let me tell you, she definitely knows her city and has great taste in restaurants and bars! The room was beautiful and clean. The crescent rolls in the morning were a nice touch. It was hard going back home and not having them delivered to us every morning! Thanks St. James Hotel! We will be back!

Great suite with massive furnished terrasse

Pros: Luxurious lobby, complimentary drinks and breakfast delivered at the room, wooden ceiling and large terrasse.
Cons: A shuttle to the town hotspots would be a wonderful addition.
My wife and I loved the warm setting of the suite. The impressive size of the balcony was a welcomed surprised, and so was the breakfast delivery. As Expedia VIPs, we also got a couple of drinks at the Chophouse restaurant next door. Very nice old fashioned steakhouse with a live talented pianist. All great stuff. Too bad we were there for such a short time.

Central Location

The hotel is located near Canal Street. The staff were very friendly. The continental breakfast was an added bonus. Beautiful room.

Great Old Hotel

Pros: location, size of room and the feel of an old historic building
Cons: Just a refresher of the bathroom, it would make the hotel a five star in my mind
Location: Perfect location. Not in the french quarter, but close. Safe. Casino is close, restaurants are close (Chop House is next door)
Wonderful staff, the lady at the desk even sang for us, long story. Hotel was quaint and my room was very spacious and comfortable. I think it is time for an upgrade in bathrooms. They were not disgusting or anything, but a re-grouting of the tile on the floor and in the shower surround would have been enough for me to rate the room a five star. It is not in disrepair, but a little attention to the bathroom would put them over the top.

OK for the location

Pros: Location, staff and lobby sitting area.
Cons: Update the hallways and add a gym.
Location: Visit French Quarter, Riverwalk, ride the Trolley, go to WWII museum, take in a Saints game at the Metrodome. Easy commute to Tulane and Loyola.
Perfect location at edge of the French Quarter. I thought I had booked The James Hotel which are trendy have more amenities. St. James is not related to The James Hotels. Staff are very friendly, lobby has a nice sitting area and a courtyard off the back. No other amenities. The floors are dated but rooms are decent. Standard rooms are small. I needed a rollaway bed a night and the only place it would fit blocked the bathroom door. They do have suites so with more than 2 people, you need a suite. There are better hotel options. I would stay here again but it wouldn’t be my first choice.

Just outside of French Quarter!

Great Hotel, only 2 blocks from French Quarter. The hotel is on Magazine Street which has a ton of restaurants and shops as well. The hotel Staff were amazing, friendly and helpful.
