We (family of 3) stayed at the hotel for three nights during a milestone birthday. The hotel is over 100 years old. That's a positive point for us because the lobby and dining room architecturally is simply gorgeous. The staff at the front desk is absolutely great. We were able to check in much earlier since an early flight arrival from Florida and the front desk accommodated us without question.
The staff in the dining room were great too during breakfast. The reason I didn't give an overwhelming 5 stars for the hotel is the room housekeeping person, 5th floor did not resupply tissues nor house brand soap nor more toilet paper after our first night stay. The room was clean and very comfortable. The hotel's condition is very good. The rooftop pool area is well kept with a wonderful view whether you're up there during the day or at night to view city lights.
Location of the hotel on Poydras St. is walking distance to Bourbon St., Canal St. with the tourist, souvenir shops, Fulton St. Market, Harrah's Casino, the Aquarium, Jackson Sq., and about 1.5 miles to the French Quarter. Figure 15-30 minutes walking time. There's so much to see in these areas mentioned. Best of all during Mardi Gras the hotel is 2 blocks from St. Charles St. where we enjoyed hours of Mardi Gras parades two nights.
For us why should we stay at those famous chain hotels that are cold, neutrally appointed and designed when we could stay at a historical, beautiful hotel with character, and great staff.

Good location for French Quarter activities. Definitely a boutique hotel (located between an art gallery and a restaurant) with one slow elevator and no extra amenities like a fridge in the room, etc. Our room felt like it needed better ventilation but over all was clean and thermostat worked well. The linens were not the best - not threadbare but could do with an update. The pillows need to be replaced. All staff were friendly and helpful though so a big plus. I'd consider staying again just for the location and staff.

"Great Hotel Close to Everything in the French Quar"
Our experience was terrific from check-in to check-out staff was very helpful and pleasant. Our room was very clean and well kept. It was nice to have the information available as to the history of the building and its previous uses quite the history lesson. The hotel is located about a half a block off Bourbon Street on Orleans. Even with the proximity to the fun and excitement of Bourbon street the hotel was very quiet, we could not hear any noise from Bourbon Street. If you're looking to be in the middle of everything in the French Quarter, and still have a sanctuary to get a break from the party, this is the Hotel for you. Very centrally located in the French Quarter walking distance from everything i.e. Cafe du Mond, K-Paul's, Jackson Square, Canal Street, Parade Routes, and Street Cars I recommend getting a day pass. They also have a wonderful restaurant and bar at the hotel.

As always, great service at OMNI hotels. They went above and beyond to help me - they came up to be sure I was awake when they couldn't reach me for my wake-up call. The staff was friendly. Hotel nice and room comfortable. Fantastic food for room service, the bread pudding was the best I have ever had.
