Not worth it, better and newer hotels aplenty

Had to request the upgrade. They didn't want to give me the higher category room but just a different one, in the end they conceded but only to the bigger room without any of the privileges linked to the room upgrade such as access to the executive floor, etc. Old hotel, rooms not very modern and you are better off in a newer and possibly smaller hotel.

Best place in Jakarta

The hotel is just great....close to the main sites in town, excellent service and food. Arti, in the Concierge is very helpful and friendly. 5 star experience...

Great value in a Hotel in the Heart of Jakarta

In Jakarta, location is everything. This is among the best. Far enougjt to be peaceful and close enought to be convenient.

Very good central hotel.

Location: Central location and starting point.
It has been over 30 years since my last stay which was a far cry from its present condition. It is very central which gives the advantage as a starting point to go anywhere. Very good rooms, facilites, service and staff.

Old hotel in a prime location. Still in good shape, but needs work, especially upgrading the rooms.

In some cases, the refreshing of the rooms has already been completed, but as you can well imagine with 695 rooms in a very busy hotel, the process can be slow to complete. Smelly room, bad service

Had a very bad experience with numerous staff over a very petty issue. As I had left over dessert I wanted to put in the minibar, I contacted room service and asked for the fridge to be unlocked. Eventually someone came to open the fridge door and I explained very clearly I had something to put in the fridge and nothing would be removed. 10 min later I received a call from room service questioning why I had to open the fridge. 5 min later i received a call from the front desk asking the same questions, then after another 5 min another call came questioning my actions??? At this point I had enough and told them I refuse to discuss it any further and goodbye! Also prior to booking I contacted the hotel to ask about the complimentary airport pick up - and was told that it could be arranged. After booking the room I was told it would cost 420,000 idr- which was obsued and misleading. I took a cab which cost 150,000.

Good Afternoon Anonymous, To begin, "Thank You" for taking time out to write your review. As is well known, only through feedback from our guests can we hope to continual improve our service. I have spent a little time in researching your comments have have the following comments: 1. With regard to the issues surrounding the min-bar, it would seem that there was a misunderstanding on the part of the team as to your request. Initially, they understood your request to open the mini-bar and per our procedures, they were happy to do so, but based on the requirement that all "Cash basis" guests who request the mini-bar to be open must allow the staff to remove the contents of the mini-bar. I think you will find that this policy is common in many hotels here in Asia with mini-bars and no credit card deposit. At any rate, we do apologize if the communication got a little confused and we did not meet your expectation with regard to this matter. Next, the issue with the request for transfer to the airport. We have researched all available electronic media to ensure that there is no mention that airport transfers are free of charge and found that there are no such remarks that we can find. The price difference is due to the class of vehicle used. As you mentioned, the price we quoted was much higher than the 150,000 IDR you paid for a regular taxi. We offer a Mercedes Class transfer for the 420,000 you quoted in the review. I hope that the team explained this to you when you were booking the transfer. Well, I hope I have adequately addressed your review and again, apologize for any misunderstanding or possibly incomplete explanations of policy. We do our best to assure that the team communicates completely, but on occasion, there are still some shortfalls. We hope that you had a safe onward journey and that you will give us another opportunity in the future to show why Hotel Borobudur is one of the top hotel choices in Jakarta.
