Well located. Dark and congested room

Posted Feb 19, 2018
No need to spend time in room with all the attractions Kyoto offers. However, overlooking ventilation pipes and air exchangers under an overhang facing north is not marketing feature

Its a nice hotel but a bit far away from main station. If there is shuttle bus to the station would be great

Thank you for staying at Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shijo. We truly appreciate your valuable comment. Our hotel is located in central Kyoto. It is convenient for both the city bus and underground services. City Bus No.50 takes you directly from the main JR Kyoto Station to the front of our hotel. It takes approximately 10 minutes and runs every 15 minutes. The nearest underground Shijo station is only 5 to 10 minutes away on foot and it is only two stops from main the JR Kyoto Station, which is located in the south of Kyoto. If you have a difficulty carrying your luggage with the stairs, there is an elevator at Exit 4 of the Shijo station at the west end. The Exit 4 is at the same side of the street as our hotel. Because of its convenience, we do not have a huge demand for a shuttle bus, we do appreciate your suggestion and it is something we would like to consider for the development of the hotel. We hope your stay overall has been satisfactory and you have enjoyed your visit to Kyoto. Thank you once again for taking your time to give us your feedback. We hope we can welcome you again soon. Room is small but comfortable. Walking distance to main shopping food area on main road shijo karamasu. Only downside is the public bath is really small

Walk around Kyoto.

Had a nice stay. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Very convenient location to both transportation and the shopping areas. On a quieter side street. There are baths at the hotel for guests, but we did not get around to trying them out. We would stay here again.

Excellent Hotel

Great place to stay. Very close to bus stop, restaurants and shopping area. Nice and clean public onsen available on the ground floor, which is a big plus on a cold day. Room is a bit small for 3 adults but the price is reasonable. Would stay here again in the future.

Thank you for staying at Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shijo. We are delighted to know that you have been satisfied with your stay at our hotel. Fortunately our hotel is located in central area of Kyoto. All the bus stops which connect the most of interests in Kyoto are just few minutes away on foot from our hotel. Such as the famous Nishiki Market and the Nijo-jo castle are just to name a few. As we are located where we are, there are many restaurants and shops around us. Some of them are difficult to find, as they can be small or tucked into a little alleyway. We have maps and guides to show, so please ask a member of our staff at the reception for directions. With regards to our public bath, it is great to know that you have enjoyed it. It is open from 3:00 in the afternoon to 1:00am after midnight. Also it is open from 6:00am to 9:00am for our guests to enjoy the experience. Although it is not taken from a hot spring, the large comfortable bathroom to warm and relax your body at the end of your day is always something special. On the other hand, we regret to hear that the room you stayed in did not meet your expectations at full this time. Perhaps when you are here next time, you could try our Deluxe Triple room with space of 25 sqm. It would give you more space for your luggage. Thank you once again for your time to share your thoughts with us. We sincerely look forward to welcoming you back again in the near future. Front Office Manager

Pleasant enough but mis sold on bed size

Posted Oct 23, 2017 on Hotels
Booked a double bed for two however the room on arrival was only made up for one person. A double bed for two is not comfortable. We are not big in the slightest and it was a real squeeze. Lack of western breakfast option pushed us out to local area. Rooms were cleaned daily to good standards. Overall a pleasant stay but if you're booking a room for two people, make sure you book a bed size up as the 'advertised double bed' is not a western double.

Thank you for staying at Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shijo. It is wonderful to find out that your stay has been satisfactory and our standard of cleaning met what you were after. We do take seriously of cleaning and hygiene at our hotel. It is unfortunate that the size of the room you stayed in was not something you were happy with. The room you stayed in is the most compact room we have, with space of 15 sqm and the bed of 120x196 cm. Because of its size it is the most reasonably offered room. If you are looking for something more spacious, we would recommend you our Deluxe Double room with the size of 25 sqm and the bed of 240x196 cm. As a hotel in Kyoto, we treasure the sense of the city even at our breakfast. Although we select western dishes as well as Japanese cuisine, in the buffet style breakfast, we sincerely hope that our guests can try the taste of Kyoto by having something like Obanzai, Kyoto style vegetable dishes, or the Japanese rolled omelette called Dashimaki. Nevertheless, if you are looking for something to eat outside the hotel, we are always glad to help you there, too. Kyoto has many good bakeries and cafes. It is actually difficult to decide what to have in Kyoto as there are many options available. Again, thank you for taking your time to leave a comment. We hope your stay in Kyoto has become something memorable and we hope you will visit us again in the near future. Front Office Manager

smart, well-looked after place in good location

Posted Oct 16, 2017
The staff at Mitsui Garden were exceptional- they went out of their way to help us after we lost an item during our travels. The rooms are small but well appointed. Onsen seemed chlorinated, so that was not such an attraction, but the massage chairs and onsite masseur made up for it. Many nice little places to eat in this neighbourhood and we could walk everywhere, but at the same time, the street was really quiet. We'd highly recommend it.
