This boutique hotel located in the art district offers large, stylish rooms. We reserved #102, with red Japanese decor, large king platform bed, nice modern and clean bathroom. Included breakfast, western & Japanese. Centrally located, walkable to Nishiki Market and shopping district and surrounded by galleries and dining options. Across the street from Imperial Palace. Staff very attentive to our needs. the bed pillows which were too soft. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Beautiful contemporary hotel with a design aesthetic. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. Amazing breakfast. Staff were great and speak English to various degrees. The location, a short walk to the Imperial Palace grounds, is not the most convenient, but a 10-12 minute walk in either direction will get you to a subway stop or local train stop. Taxi service is good and fare is reasonable.

Perfect location and wonderul staff.
We spent 10 nights at The Screen and couldn't have chosen a more perfect place. Aside from the excellent location, the staff was amazing. Always available, helpful and friendly. The location was perfect to allow for walking to most Temples, parks, shopping, museums and restaurants. The breakfasts at the hotel was wonderful. Also, loved the rooftop lounge.

Fabulous service
Awesome service! They even arranged to send our luggage to the next city’s hotel. The room was lovely and the breakfast was truly lovely! Only a couple odd space issues... humidifier and glass enclosed bathroom was awkward, no power outlet within reach of the bed. If they swapped the mount of the bathroom door to open out and added a longer extension cord to the desk - problems solved. Truly lovely stay over all

Wonderful hotel with great restaurants and location. There was still some construction going on which should be completed soon. Then it will be even better!

This is one of the largest room ive ever had in Japan. Location is perfect for us. And there are many local small shops around. They offer Nespresso coffee and Ronnefadeldt, one of my favorite tea. This place is perfect for a couple and also family members. Like other reviews room was dark but it gaves us more mood for me and my lovely girlfriend. I strongly recommend this place!!!

Unusual modern hotel, very clean and staff are friendly. Everything was explained to us in detail. The room was a little dark with no option to turn the lights brighter. Hotel is across the road from the palace but all other sights are further away.

We had a great time in Kyoto. The Screen Hotel ist right at the corner of the imperial garden, in the old city. Every tourist spot within walking distance or by public transport (bus and subway). The hotel offers spacious and comfortable rooms with good beds, it serves a good and tasty Japanese breakfast (English as well). The staff is very friendly and helpful. Plenty of good Japanese restaurants just in walking minutes.

Unusual hotel - all room different. Ours was very spacious and stylish but mood lighting made it impossible to see or read anything. Huge screen TV but instructions made it impossible to use. Quiet area. Boutique shopping away from the downtown but only 25 min walk away

The Screen was by far the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. The location is perfect and the room was clean and beautiful (and about 5x the size of other Japanese hotel rooms).

The room was huge! The bed incredibly comfortable (which is rare in Japan, I have found). Local shopping just a 10 minute walk away and the bus lines 2 minutes away take you to all the sites. Subway 10 minutes away. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Quick stay during Cherry Blossom season
Great breakfast options. Like that they order the night before and have a table ready for you in the dining room. My room was large and had a couch, TV, king bed, and a nice bathroom. I would stay again.

The room was beautiful! Like a suite in the clouds. Very quiet. Lovely large tub for a soak. Everything spotless, with thoughtful amenities. And the bed was the best mattress I've slept on, ever. And I am a picky sleeper. The staff was very helpful and communicative. The single only issue was that they had only one plug outlet for the room. Luckily we had an extension cord! We will definitely return and will recommend.

Beautifully modern hotel with friendly staff
I loved this hotel: great sized room, great location and very stylish. The staff of course were very polite, friendly and helpful. A few particular nice touches to note: a room upgrade, a complimentary arrival drink and free nespresso coffee and room snacks. The only very minor thing which could make a small improvement to the already excellent facilities would have been a complimentary smart phone you can take out and about which we got a some other accommodations and really helps you get about. If we had more time we would have liked to have had the spa treatments!

This was a lovely hotel! The photos do not do it justice. The staff were incredibly helpful and the dinner was a great experience. The only possible downside would be that it wasn’t particularly close to the station.

Beautiful Form Ignores Function
Our room was immense, but had some space wasting anomalies. The drain for the shower was actually outside the shower and beside the sink area, necessitating a raised group of tiles that were unkind to toes. We were in that black room - black walls, carpeting and furniture, but light placement made a nocturnal trip to the bathroom dangerous - especially since the bedroom was raised by two steps covered in black wall to wall carpeting.

Lovely Boutique Hotel
Great hotel; the rooms are lovely, each one is unique, designed by a different artist. The bathrooms are equipped with a jacuzzi large enough for two, and there are high-quality amenities provided too. The staff is great; they speak English and are helpful, polite and professional. The breakfast is delicious too. We had the 2,000 Yen Western style breakfast, and it was excellent value and beautifully presented. They also have a rooftop bar, great for a drink at sunset. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.

Chic, modern and very well located
This beautifully designed, modern hotel had all the comfort amenities a boutique hotel should offer including a beautiful bathtub to soak you aching feet after a day of sightseeing. The curtained walls in the room were really cool, we hadn't seen anything like before, but thought they mimicked the traditional Japanese screened walls - only a twist. The location was very handy for a jog in the Imperial Palace park. You could easily walk from the hotel to the local food market and shopping area in Central Tokyo. Just take the city buses anywhere you want to go to visit shrines, temples and all that Kyoto has to offer and you are set.

Stayed there five nights in June 2017. The hotel staff are really wonderful and helpful, it is a small hotel with only 13 rooms, so very quiet. Apparently because it is so small you have to tell them ahead of time if you want breakfast, as I guess they don't always have the need to serve it. The roof terrace is similar, with very few people there typically, but a great spot to have a drink. I stayed in Room 403, which has interior curtains around the walls that give it an ephemeral kind of elegant look. But there are only a few windows, and those are white translucent, so no view out. It feels a bit claustrophobic. I am sure some of the other rooms are better, this was the less expensive "semi-suite." Considering reviews i had seen about the "black room", i would suggest asking the hotel ahead of time which specific room you are reserving, as they are all different and it might help with expectations.
