Remodeling is noisy and overwhelming

What a horrific experience! You must walk over, around, and under scaffolding to get to the check-in located in an unmarked, tiny side room, and everytime you enter or leave the hotel. Seriously, you are in danger of something falling on you! Pool is under construction too! We were never told about an alternate pool located by the ocean; we stayed 3 days and found out about it by another patron on our last day. The noise was continual during daylight hours. Only rooms that have a marine view are the suites, they won't upgrade even if the hotel is empty. Room was OK, but had loose tiles in floor and we had to fix the flushing mechanism in the toilet to get it to work.

The place has a lot if potential for its marina

Pros: Marina. architecture.
Cons: Food, noise of other guests. Parking is not safe they broke the windows of two cars while we were there!!!!
Location: THe beach of the hotel is 5oo meters away. THe club could be nice, the beach itself is terrible. San Carlos is a nice place.
Could be a nice a nice place to stay but they are remodelling and hope they will put more heart in running the place.

I was very irritated to find extensive renovation, restaurant was temporary, there was no bar, no lobby, who knows what else.WiFi was terrible! also the website said no added taxes but that wasn't true, I won't be using Hotels.com in the future

Convenient, Hot Water, Lumpy beds.

Was a great location. Had hot water and pressure for the showers. Double beds and really wanted to upgrade to Queens, but none were available. Beds were lumpy. Smudges on the toilet and on the door to enter the room. Breakfast was great but not included in our price. Pool not heated, but the hot tub was not bad. Views were great!

Disaster in San Carlos

We paid full price and then found out our room was on a total remodel floor and the door base had a towel on it to try and keep the dust from going into the room. When we complained they said they would give us a partial refund when we checked out, that turned out to be a total LIE.

No heat it in the rooms.

The hotel was under construction. There was no heat in our room and it was a cold week. Very few of the staff spoke English, so communicating was hard.

Good for families on a budget

Pros: The friendly staff at the Hotel Pool and Bar!!!! The food and snacks were awesome by the pool and The Micheladas, WERE THE BEST EVER!!!!
Cons: The reception desk needs to remove the staff trying to sell condos from attacking customers upon check-in.
Location: Stores were scarce and the Marina was dead, need more entertainment and perhaps more activities for kids and adults.
The rooms were clean, the Staff is friendly, not too much to do around the Marina. The majority of stores were closed or looked closed. The Hotel was fully booked and yet you felt the hotel was empty. Everyone comes out at nighttime, too hot and humid during the day. We stayed during Labor Day weekend. The Staff offered a variety of activities like snorkeling, canoeing, boat rides, bike rentals, etc. to give you options to fill your day. The Spa at Chocolate was very nicely appointed and the prices were reasonable. The Staff at the Spa did not give you direction before, during or after your treatments, and I felt lost and unattended twice during two separate treatments and I speak fluent Spanish. The service portion was very relaxing and good, but the lack of communication was my only issue. My advice would be to ask them directly to communicate clearly on what to expect and for them to keep you informed throughout the entire process. Another issue for customers who do not want to waste their time during their stay. Do not fall for the "FREE Buffet Meals", we were told that we would be given four free Buffet Breakfasts, if we viewed "Condos for Sale" on the property. That this would take only 25-30 minutes of our time, but no where do they tell you that you must wait in the Lobby for 2-3 hours to wait your turn until the next tour was finished. We tried on two separate days, and twice they apologized for the wait and rescheduled us. Just avoid this option!!!!!!
