Beautiful historic hotel

Posted Sep 21, 2017
Pros: It was in our budget but had the feel of a much more expensive hotel.
Cons: Nothing really, being a very old building the plumbing was a little noisy but not too bad and something silly but the clothes hangers kept falling off
Location: Wonderful location, nice safe area within 10 minute walk to train station and very close to main shopping street of Bologna and the historic district.
Beautiful historic buildings, close to train station but in a nice safe area, nice walk to main attractions and shopping. Fabulous breakfast buffet, very attentive staff, hot and cold dishes were fresh and very delicious.

Hotel Il Guercino - Bologna

Posted Sep 15, 2017
Pros: Public areas - lobby, restaurant. Cleanliness. Breakfast was delicious. The hotel has character.
Cons: Rooms sound insulation. Rooms furniture. Rooms could be better equipped for a 4-star place. Poor Internet speed.
Location: 10-15 min walk from the train station 20-25 min walk from Bologna centre.
We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. Good location, pleasant staff, clean. Breakfast was good. 4-star hotel. Public areas like lobby, restaurant, reception were very pleasant and with some character. The rooms are not at the same level. I would rate them at 2.5 - 3 star level for size, furniture quality and amenities. Paper thin walls, non-existant sound insulation (but that's common almost everywhere in Europe) Poor internet (wi-fi) speed. (common for hotels in Italy) A/C was good (important for summers in Bologna). Overall: Good for the money, decent, quiet location. At that price: recommended

This is a really fabulous small hotel with characterful rooms, friendly staff and one of the nicest breakfast buffets I have experienced. Great location for trains and a reasonable walk into the centre. Highly recommended.

Great Hotel Near City Center & Bologna Centrale

Posted Jul 6, 2017
Pros: Customer service, flexibility, and location were the stand-out aspects of this hotel.
Cons: The rooms could use a little improvement to make some aspects more comfortable for guests. Also maybe some more detailed cleaning.
Location: The best restaurant in Bologna is right next door to this hotel and that's a big plus. Trattoria di Via Serra was fantastic. Also check out Jari.
My wife and I stayed at this hotel in Bologna for 12 nights for our honeymoon and had a very pleasant experience. Upon arrival, the concierge Isabella informed us we could upgrade to a better/bigger room for a price and let us walk around and look at the rooms before deciding. The room was very spacious and was the perfect size for us. There were a few cons to the room: The mattress was very firm and rough, there were a few mold spots in the shower, the shower is relatively tiny, and there was a squashed bug in a corner of the bathroom that was there for our entire trip. Other than these things, the location of the hotel was a definite plus. The hotel is a 4 minute walk away from Bologna Centrale, so traveling to other cities in Italy by train was very easy. The city center of Bologna was also easily accessible by bus. A short one minute walk to the bus stop and then a 7 minute bus ride (4 stops) places you right in front of the Neptune Fountain. Location was everything; we were also able to walk to the city center in about 20 minutes. The hotel served breakfast for free from 7-10 every morning and we definitely made sure to get down there nearly every day we stayed at the hotel. The kitchen staff were very personable and helpful. The front desk staff was also very helpful. While we spoke decent Italian, they all spoke English and didn't hesitate to make reservations for us and give us recommendations when asked. We're very pleased with the hotel and how they treated us.

Lovely central position, ideal for walking into ci

Posted Jun 29, 2017
Pros: Pleasant staff and comfortable communal areas. Dining room for breakfast was lovely, inside nod out. The hotel was ideally placed.
Cons: We were satisfied with most aspects, the rooms were kept clean and nice touch to have tea and coffee facilities.
Location: Location excellent as close to station and city shops, museums and places of interest.
Excellent position for experiencing Bologna. Breakfast room was lovely and the communal areas relaxing and plentiful. Staff were very helpful and fun. Bedroom was small but clean and air conditioning a bonus working efficiently. We had a brilliant time and would recommend. Close to the train station so trips out were possible and we enjoyed Modena.
