Peaceful Colonial oasis

Posted Sep 18, 2017
Impressive hotel and grounds, photos don't quite do justice. Lots of other nice details and artefacts around the hotel. Surprisingly quiet. Pool area is real highlight. Constant maintenance going on - cleaning, touching up paint so very clean and tidy as a result. Rooms very clean but not lacking character. A few English speaking staff. But all polite and helpful. Good spa. We also used on site travel agent to book our excursions. Prices seemed competitive vs side of road venues and vehicles were in fine condition. Only comments would be some gym equipment is a bit worn out - seats loose on machines. Food on pricey side, so are elsewhere but buffet looked good. Central location so plenty of options for all budgets.

historical building in the heart of Yogyakarta

Posted Jul 24, 2017
Pros: buffet breakfast, location in the city
Cons: lighting in the room, mosquito repellent spray daily in the room
Location: close to malioboro and Kraton palace. Within walking distance to convenience store and restaurants.
great if you want a hotel in the city. Quiet rooms, but dark. Was a house in the 19th century. Great dining open air area, with great breakfast buffet. Reception was a little slow. For handicapped people, the staff was needed to assist in getting in from the side entrance and to go up an incline to the room. Walls very thin, you can hear activity next door. Handicapped room is on first floor, smoking floor, but good thing there was hardly any smoker. Staff was great in assisting.

Wallet watch

Posted Jun 6, 2017 on Hotels
A great hotel except for the front desk process. I didn't realize bkfst was not included in my rate. Lots of negotiation got me a discount. I agreed to pay for the 5 rooms I had for the week we were to be there. On day two it. Ecame an issue again and it resurfaced again on check out. Incredible miscommunication among that staff I guess. All of that hassle is what spoiled the stay at another wise great, rustic hotel. Enjoy the stay but watch your wallet!

Nice hotel but noisy around the pool

Posted May 23, 2017
Pros: Common areas
Cons: Pool area. check in.
This is a lovely hotel as described in the other reviews... I had a room overlooking the pool which was very noisy at times. I was woken up at 7:30 on the Saturday by what sounded like a karaoke or live music. It seems that they hold events in this area which I guess explains this. A couple of days later there seemed to be a conference there as there were several dozen people around the pool area... in itself, not a problem, but I think you would probably feel quite awkward there if you had been in the pool during that time or sitting on one of the sun loungers in your swimwear. Another small niggle I have is that there they didn't offer you a welcome drink. Most hotels offer this and frankly it doesn't usually bother me one way or the other, but in this instance I was early and quite thirsty so it would have been nice. I did ask but was told that it isn't their policy to offer a welcome drink. The room was very nice and spacious and the common areas in the hotel are truly fantastic.
