This was a neat opportunity to stay in a chateau (which by definition has modern conveniences retro-fitted). The room was nice enough. The optional breakfast was quite good - and very convenient for the area. The grounds are beautiful, we enjoyed a picnic lunch in the yard (which has a bunch of tables set up ).

Beautiful property however we had a long wait to get into the property and then to check in. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, upgraded our room to a larger one when they saw we had a baby. Great spot for visiting the numerous wineries on the doorstep
Staff very professional and helpful. Can’t understand why only three star, vastly superior to most four star.

The castle
Small hotel, few rooms, reasonable facilities. The complex where the hotel is located is still under restoration. We stayed one night so we hadn't the possibility to enjoy the surroundings.
A very impressive building and grounds. Our welcome was personal and friendly. The pool is in an great situation but could do with some attention to the lining. I loved the room which had considerable character and antique furniture.
although this looks lovely outside and in reception, the rooms are very very tired looking and extremely basic with the television balancing on the mini fridge. really small rooms with grubby wallpaper.
This hotel was in Burgundy, but was not in a very prosperous area. There were no restaurants or bars nearby, as it was in sort of an industrial area. The building itself was lovely, but there was only one girl working in the whole place. There were no common areas, and there did not appear to be any other guests. The room was larger than average, with lovely crisp and clean bedding.
Fantastic hotel one of the best great food great staff

The hotel is situated on the outskirts of the small town of Chagny - about 15 minutes south of Beaune beautiful contryside but you will need a car to get there. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful and the front desk staff are very helpful and can speak some English - for any Anglophiles out there. We stayed 2 nights in room 40, 2 big beds overlooking the main house, large room overlooking the pool from one side and reception/restaurant on the other window. The downside to our room was there was no air conditioning and no safe - but we just left the 3 large windows open for cross breeze and locked our valuables in our car. Note my daughters were in heaven sleeping in a castle!
First time staying in a chateau and we had a room in the tower it was amazing private pool, we dined there as well food and service was excellent. Staff were very hospitable will look to book for longer next time..
Perfect stop over for us as we headed to south of France. Very welcoming, near the main road but far enough to be away from it, beautiful surroundings and a stunning hotel for the price. Just perfect.
Like staying in a fairy tale castle. Very cool. We stayed in a room with tapestries. The room said 1560's, but the bathroom was more 1960's. Still worth a stay if you are into history.
Everything was excellent but it was a very hot day so it would have been nice to have A/C.

Beautiful gardens and good Chef .
A lovely place from the outside and room was disappointing, but lovely dinnner that night in their beautiful dining room.Hostess will add dinner and breakfast onto your bill however automatically if you don't check ,and the breakfast is expensive.Very good value for the lovely evening meal but Wednesday is their evening off.
Historical Chateau out of town. Found it with "free parking". The restaurant is excellent. The farmer's market in nearby Beaune is a wonderful experience.
A step back in time. Beautiful setting and an old gracious Dining experience from breakfast to dinner. Convenient to many wine producing areas.
It is a real value for the price. Old France!
A typical old french building now a hotel, no lift, nice room, excellent shower, working air con.
Great food in the restaurant with a nice reasonably priced wine list, lovely breakfast too, the baker delivered the bread at 7:15 on the Sunday morning.
Personally I thought the room was a bit pricey for what it was.
Food good except no choice at all fortunately we liked everything on menu! Not advised no lift & we had 2nd floor room, 44 curving stairs to climb! Lovely terrace to sit and relax, nice pool. Building was fabulous and beautifully restored.

Charming
The Chateau is charming but the first room we were offered was in the tower and was very small and on 2nd Floor as a family of 3 with lots of luggage this was not a good sign but the manager soon gave us a ground floor large suite and all was good
Enjoyed stay. Good location not too far from motorway. Stunningly beautiful building. Lovely gardens and pool v. welcome after long drive. My husband found the stairs to the first floor difficult. Lovely room with large, comfortable bed. Bathroom small. Meal was expensive for what was offered and it was good but not excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. When I explained my husband's difficulty with stairs they willingly moved us from 2nd to 1st floor. Very good choice of offerings for breakfast which was served outside on the terrace.
This chateau was so charming. It was clean, affordable, romantic and the staff was very kind. They gave us a bigger room at no extra charge! It was fun to eat in the chateau-again charming. You could feel the history there, but the rooms were not musty, clean and quite inviting. We highly recommend this place - and will choose it our next trip to Burgundy.
Owners spoke some English and made us feel very welcome. However, although the room in the main house was pleasing and clean, the shower and WC were compact and not conducive to the larger person. Breakfast was typically French and adequate with choice of bread, rolls, homemade jams and juice. Public rooms very comfortable and swimming pool had a bad weather cover which was useful. Very much an out of the way location although the satnav eventually found it. No evening meal but a reasonable auberge in the next village although their speciality appeared to various forms of frog.
Superb property with old charm and history, plenty of room for a family of 4, room opening to the pool. Dinner was good and the wine excellent - and so was the service. Overall an excellent choice and a memorable experience.

Good hotel for a one night stop over.
The hotel was a lovely chateau with what looked like a lovely swimming pool. Found it quite hard to find but we did go the wrong way. Room was clean and tidy with a smallish bathroom. Did not have dinner or breakfast so cannot comment on food. Went out for dinner in the nearby town, which was ok but not like some beautiful medieval French villages. It is a great location to stop off for a break when driving down to the South of France.
Fantastic classic French hospitality with all the gourmet trimmings you would expect. The hotel is in well kept grounds and the buildings have the right balance of age and grace with modern comforts. Highly recommended!
Very attractive building and garden. Bed and bathroom good, but shower needed a wall fixing. Curtains and a better quality room door would have given the room more of an ambiance of a chateau rather than a Novotel. As you are nearing the hotel you have to turn off a busy road into a small lane downhill (so you can not see it) next to a Renault Trucks garage. You feel a bit like the poor relation being sent in the tradesman's entrance when you arrive - the main entrance is for the restaurant and you have to walk round to the back of the chateau on gravel with your luggage. Eating is much cheaper in the village where there are several choices.
Chateau is absolutely amazing. Very French traditional.Dinner in the restaurant was superb from the very old fashioned silver service to the excellent French food. The squirrels on the front lawn in the morning were amazing I would definitely go back
It was a special place and our dinner at the hotel was a highlight. Internet didn't work for us, but we were there to enjoy the lovely chateau and the excellent restaurant, so that was okay.
Wonderful opportunity of staying in real XVIII century castle. The room was in the tower, my daughters were delighted playing Rapunzels from the window. The room was perfectly clean and the service was very friendly. Overall fantastic place.
Booked as last minute stop over. Chateau is charming with a good sized pool with changing facilities. Staff very friendly. Only disappointment was the family room we were in. Apparently discounted to approx 50% it was in need of refurbishment. Very cramped for family of four - you had to clamber over beds to open the window. Also shower was very small and there was nowhere to hang bathroom towels. Other rooms looked great - we were just unlucky!
We were exploring the Burgundy region and found the hotel to be convenient to go to Beaune and Dijon with the benefit of not having to stay in a city. This hotel is a typical chateau in the country with many elements that indicate its age but nicely updated. Modern bathrooms and the usual moderna amenities in the rooms which were very comfortable.
The dining room was beautiful and the meal was memorable. The next day we dined at Lamelloise nearby. In comparison, dinner at the hotel was a much better value although not nearly as deluxe
We stayed at two other chateau/castles in the country during this trip in France and feel that we have the ability to compare with other similar facilities. The rooms are variable in layout and price. We stayed in a larger room (#41) in La Commanderie, which is a 12th century building behing the main chateau in September 2011.
Pros:
1. Architecturally beautiful chateau composed of an 18th century main turretted chateau and a 12th century building.
2. Beautiful well-maintained grounds
3. Our room was very large with striking beams and finely furnished with appropriate furnishings including an antique wardrobe and bed.
4. Bathroom was spacious, modern and everything worked. The tub was narrow but functional.
5. Parking was excellent
6. All staff were professional and very friendly, most spoke at least some English. We had seen reviews that the staff was not always friendly but our experience was very positive.
7. We had a fixed price dinner at the hotel and we both thought that it was excellent. The dining room is visually outstanding with wood paneling, reproductions of carefully selected paintings and antique floor.
8. We had the continental breakfast and it was adequate for our needs.
Cons
1. Mattress was definitely worn and bowed in the middle. It was otherwise comfortable but probably the lowpoint of the hotel.
2. No shower (does have a hand held sprayer)
In sum, a gorgeous chateau with a with a sense of character and history that is visually stunning.
