It was a our first bed and breakfast experience. This place must have been the cat's meow before Covid. Had to say meow because we met the house dog named Rolley during our pit-stop around noontime. We stayed in the third floor San Fransisco room with a king and full size bed. It worked fine for the 2 nights we were there but next time we would opt for a second floor with roll away or two rooms on the second floor. The stairways to the third floor is narrow and steep plus getting in and out of the claw bathtub/shower takes some skills that us in our late 50s needs to consider. We really enjoyed the post covid experience as we had things to accomplish with our son looking into programs at the local college. Plus it was obvious Kevin is shorthanded like everyone else. He cleaned our room and it passed my white socks test. They were clean and I had to wear them two days in a row because I forgot to pack extras. The only thing I will say is if you reserve this room, it is an old house. There appears to be a vent in the ceiling that goes to an attic so we killed two bugs while we were there. One was a wasp so another reason we would not reserve this room. However, we are so very pleased Kevin listed this room on hotels.com! Otherwise we would have never visited this property.
It was a great experience staying in an old house like this but there was just the right amount of new and old. Modern conveniences with old style charm. Also, super close to downtown Champaign. We walked it, took about five minutes to be in the middle of several locations
