Beautiful pool and so nice to have a big patio with our room. The neighbours in adjacent rooms talked loudly very late into the night. And AC did not work

This hotel was up on the hill looking over the city. The view was spectacular. All the staff we encountered were very friendly. The breakfast buffet was excellent. There was a free shuttle to downtown very regularly through the day. We look forward to returning to this hotel some day.

This is an amazing hotel. Set on a hill high above Chania. You will not get a better view, and never get fed up of looking at it. Access to town is simple and provided by a regular shuttle. The staff on reception, in the dining area, on the shuttle bus are amazing. Nothing is too much for them. The pool area is great, again, views to die for. Quiet, and relaxing. Cannot recommend it enough.

Comments on hotel are misleading, be ware of this. Check in was not a pleasant experience, the lady at front desk was annoyed from the moment I approached the desk.Requests about VIP perks were brushed off, not recognized or not available. The place was practically empty. The initial room provided had mold on the roof of the bathroom. The second room had the same issue and the third one was apparently all they had available. There was mold in there as well but not as visible as it was in the other two. It had clearly been painted over. My reservation was none refundable so I endured. The gym is dated and it was in a mess when I walked in there after check in. Decided not to go back in there. My room was cleaned daily but bring your own towel if you must stay here. The towels house keeping kept leaving me after the second day should be retired. The rooms are not soundproof, any movement or sound in other rooms could be heard in my room, as a light sleeper this was challenging. After an attempt on the behalf of Expedia to assist, I was magically provided wine and a plate of fruit mid stay. Even though the hotel is old, there is soo much potential but it’s poorly maintained. The wall papers in the three rooms I saw was on their last leg. Attention to detail could go a long way. The restaurant on 3rd floor had great views, service was slow but I didn’t mind. The staff in the restaurant were polite and the food was tolerable.

Always a wonderful stay at this very special hotel. The views are incredible and unrivalled in Chania, but it’s the staff that really make your stay so special. We enjoyed amazing views over Chania from our balcony and restaurant. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The shuttle bus made it easy to get into town during the day and evening. All in all a very pleasant stay.

I didn’t like how it was dealt with it.
I liked the place but it I have couple of points to comment on. First the walk to my room was extremely dark, and it was really scary to walk to hallway. Second, as I was in the room and taking a shower, someone opened the door and left the door open. I called the front desk and she asked me 3 times if I am sure that this happened! Why would anybody lie about something like this. I asked her to check with the cleaning lady, she did and called me back apologizing. But that is very unprofessional because why would she try to get in on the first place, how is she not informed that there is a customer in there. Then since she opened and saw that there is somebody in there, why d didn’t she close the door after her. It is just a very unprofessional incident that scared me a lot.

Wonderful hotel! The free shuttle service to and from the city centre was so convenient. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only negative was the mattress was a bit too soft for my liking. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel had an amazing view of Chania and the sunset! The quality of the food at the restaurant was lovely. The shuttle to town is very handy and the drivers are always very helpful. They have bar service at the pool, our only con to that was the phone did not always work we had to try and call a couple of times before someone answered.

The Royal Sun was very accommodating. We had travel issues, coming in a day later after our reservation. At no additional cost they adjusted our reservation. The views are extraordinary from the bar/breakfast area. We thought the distance from the Mediterranean would be an issue. However, not the case. Views, food, and staff do an amazing job. The shuttle service to and from the hotel to chania was great. Nothing bad to say about the Royal Sun. Showers are a little tight! Everything else wonderful. Highly recommend

5th time I stayed at this hotel. They could charge dinner to your room so you can only charge once in a stay. Fabulous pool for Greece. Pools are more rare than usual because of infrastructure. Also gets you out of the hustle of the city for a relaxing trip.

My stayed was horrible. Housekeep was made a lot noise on the 3floor to the point of waking me up. One day housekeeping forgot to clean my room even I asked if they could come back because I was taking a shower which they agree to it. After noticing that they never came back I went to the front desk to request my room to get clean the front desk. The guy in the front desk seemed annoyed and said "it would have to wait because housekeeping is gone, and I guess one of them (hotel staff) have to do it. Which they never did. Shower were too small, and dirty.

Incredible staff, amazing food with lots of options. Clean, safe and lots of fun excursion opportunities! Small showers in some rooms, so make sure if you need space you book something other than a room with a stand alone shower. Other than that, everything is great!

An absolute gem!
The Royal Sun is a truly lovely hotel, perfectly positioned and totally unique. Overlooking the beautiful town of Chania & the sea, the views are stunning. The staff really make it, especially in the restaurant where are they are warm & super friendly. Also, the cooking here is amongst the best I’ve had in Greece. The pool is peaceful and tranquil and sunbeds always available. Sometimes the dogs barking in the morning can be annoying, but not enough to spoil your enjoyment. Special thanks to both Maria’s, Roula, Nikos and Christos and to Eva at front desk who was super helpful when I asked to moved rooms. We will return for sure! Good choice!
Great location no offers regular and frequent shuttle into Chania. The description detail said it is 0.9 miles from the Allied war cemetery. It’s more like miles. All in all a great stay and excellent breakfast overlooking the city!

I enjoyed my stay at Royal Sun. The hotel and facilities were all very nice and the vistas are amazing! It is a long way down into to town so if you like to walk to places it may be a challenge for some.

Lovely hotel . Staff all incredibly friendly . Place was very clean . The breakfast was good and the hotel restaurant which we are at twice during our time was very good . Has beautiful views over Chania town as well. I would definitely stay here again

Hotel bar and restaurant has a wonderful view of the city - staff are so friendly. They have a useful shuttle down to the town. The pool is not heated so don't expect to use it in off season! If you have noisy neighbours, you will hear them.

Positives: The rooms with ocean view also have a great view of Chania. Great view from the restaurant as well. They have a free shuttle to take you into town. Negatives: Their breakfast is not worth the €10. Now, the worse part for us for the smell of cigarettes in the so-called non-smoking room. It was very strong, but we were told they could not move is to another room.
