Wonderful Stay
A wonderful stay from start to finish. Hotel is immaculate, spotlessly clean and nicely designed. Our room was extremely nice and clean and looked after 2 adults and 2 children easily. Facilities are excellent with use of spa and pools. Location wise the hotel is perfect, extremely short walk to 2-3 beaches and a 10 minute walk to the town centre for lots of restaurants etc. Our stay couldn’t have been better, highly recommended.

Outstanding hotel and staff
Outstanding location with beautiful ocean views; the hotel has also been fully renovated. The hotel and restaurant staff were incredibly kind and helpful. We were traveling with a young child and the chef made whatever dinner she asked for. Truly a great destination!

Disappointing to find no table available in the restaurant until 9pm. The hotel should advise guests to book In advance if they are busy. We had to walk over a mile to get dinner.

The view from the upper room, pool and restaurant’s terrasse is unique. The food is excellent and the staff is very friendly. Our room was very nice and confortable. The only problem we had was with the wifi which was not constant.

Exceptional
Love this hotel and stay here often. It is well situated between the town with shops, restaurants and market (10 min walk) and Pontaillac with it's beach front casino, shops and restaurants (15-20 min walk). Rooms are well appointed, spacious and clean. There is a Spa with steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and jets in the pool area as well a gymnasium. A variety of treatments are available book in advance of your stay, list is available to download etc. We have not tried the sea-view restaurant which offers breakfast lunch and dinner with a full extensive menu as we usually go out. Last but not least the staff and management are so welcoming and helpful, have already booked our return visit!

Very disappointing
The hotel reception was the best part of this hotel and the reception staff. Our stay was after the school holidays and was still very expensive for the size and quality of room. I could forgive the size and design of the room if the spa facilities were great, but they also were dated and very small. I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you are a young couple as the place was full of much older people. The bar and waiting staff were OK but not very friendly or helpful... we stood at the bar for over 15 minutes and then someone walked up in front of us to be served immediately and we were just ignored. We will not be staying at this hotel again in the future. This was our first time to Royan and we were very disappointed.

A 4 star hotel with a very poor restaurant. The set menu was disappointing, bland and over cooked food with the ‘Abondance’ desert consisting of three thin and sweaty slices of Comte cheese.

Disappointing
Booked the Thalazur as had heard lots of good things. Whilst our room was comfortable, the balcony let it down. Given we booked the room with a sea view we were unable to sit on the balcony as no chairs or table. In addition the paving flags were loose and it felt unsafe. Paper cups for coffee in the room was poor as was plastic glasses. We went for an upgraded room so I expected more!!

Excellent short break
Well fitted and spacious bedroom with balcony and sea view. Plenty of storage space. Excellent check in and very pleasant staff. Very good breakfast buffet. Parking was a slight problem with the hotel very busy - school holidays !

No complaints, good performer for short stay break
Comfortable room with a great outlook. Meal in the restaurant was enjoyable and waiter very attentive. Pleasant walk into the town along the coastline . Great spot for a night or two, would stay again if in the area.

Facilities were good. Hotel rooms a bit tired, efficient staff but no evidence shown of caring about giving you an enjoyable stay. Meal in restaurant was disappointing and you do need a good understanding of the French language to stay here.

Lovely hotel, fantastic location
Very pleasant stay. We decided not to pay the extra for a room with a sea view but actually got an amazing sea view anyway. We also found parking easy and free and very close to the hotel, so no need to pay for the hotel car park.

Beautiful hotel on a headland, with plenty of walk
2 night break in our journey from Northwich to Rojales in Spain. A lovely SPA hotel with fantastic scenery surrounding it.

We had two evening meals at the restaurant and there was no English menu which proved to be frustrating for us. The meal on Sunday April 3 was very disappointing in regards to service. We asked for an English menu and the waitress was very dismissive. When we asked for help with translation she was less than helpful. We were disappointed. We found your front desk personnel very pleasant and most of the rest of the staff were great.

Hôtel Cordouan, 4 star prices, not 4 star quality
Squeaky bed, wifi connection very poor and frequently dropped out, tea / coffee facility in room, but not enough, mini bar is very expensive @ 3 euros for a can of coke 7 euros for a small can of Heinekan beer. Spa is an added bonus, free entry, but very busy, additional charges for robs and sandals, but still a nice touch. 13 Euro for breakfast doesn't make this a cheap hotel ( and the breakfast wasn't anything to write home about). Give the bar and the restaurant a wide birth, both very very expensive @ 20 euro for a round of 3 drinks, 1 vodka tonic, 1 bier 1 small glass red wine, frankly the food was not the quality one would expect for a 4 star hotel.

Ok, but probably won't go back
Nice hotel. Didn't realise quite how good the complimentary spa was which was a real bonus - although make sure you take 'speedo' trunks and a swimming cap. Location is a bit of a walk from the marina which was ok on a sunny evening but in the rain with a pregnant wife had to drive into town. Little beach nearby seems nice. Hotel bar and restaurant is ok but expensive - much better food in town. Also didn't realise breakfast wasn't complimentary so got hit with a bill for that. Staff come across a bit snooty and the bar was closed by 10pm - there's not much life here. Hotel is ok inside but a bit run down from the exterior. All in all, ok. Probably won't go back.

Seaside hotel
We had a room with a seaview which was lovely. The bed was very comfortable. The only complaints were the constant low pitch hum presumably from the air con, although we switched our off. Paper cups for hot drinks which was not what we expect from a hotel of this class. Lastly the shower screen needed a jolly good scrub. But im only being picky as otherwise this was a very nice hotel. The food was excellent if a bit short on choice. Would definitely return as we didnt have time to sample the spa facilities and would like to do so.

The beds were really comfy & the room was good. It was really quiet in both the hotel & outside. We thought we may have chosen wrongly - it's a 20min walk to town - but it was along the coastal path so the walk was delightful. Didn't eat or use hotel spa facilities, so unable to comment. Parking was easy and free.

We have stayed in both the standard and superior rooms at this Hotel, and found even the Standard room to be of a good quality. The Spa and the outdoor infinity pool is really great with views over the sea. The staff are professional but friendly. For us we found the Hotel Menu a bit pricey at for breakfast so we took our own croissants etc and supply of milk and tea/coffee. Be prepared to walk into the town centre 10/15mins or to Pontaillac where the Casino is 20/25 mins. Will definitely stay here again.

Great views but cleanliness needs work
The views are stunning and the ample amount of free and easy parking is a bonus. The room was nice but it was not very clean. The bathroom in particular needed some attention. They boast having a bar which is open until late but they will be mopping around your feet at 9.45pm. This is a 3 star hotel .... Not 4 in my opinion.

Excellent hotel right by the sea.
The hotel was everything you would expect from a 4 star hotel. My only complaint is that the receptionist tried to "sell" us an upgrade to a seaview room for an extra 20 euros; when we compared both rooms (she had to be asked to show us the original room) we discovered that the room we had been allocated had a better "seaview" than the one offered as an upgrade. The use of plastic glasses and styrofoam cups in the room spoiled the overall effect.

Good location looking over the estuary / sea - a couple of minutes walk from one of the beaches & less than 10 minutes walk to the harbour & restaurants. Good sized rooms - almost all appear to have a balcony (ours did). Limited parking directly outside the hotel but there is plenty more close by.
