A wonderful stay in La Rochelle! We loved the cute room and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful! Our only complaint was the bed was a little bit dusty or hairy in someway that was unpleasant. Also note the bathroom is clean and good but very very tiny.

Teeney tiny room but perfectly adequate for our overnight stay. Great location right in the centre. Friendly & helpful guy on reception. Super hotel in the heart of town
Lovely hotel in the heart of La Rochelle and would highly recommend. We had a family room which was spacious and had everything we needed. 10 minute walk to the beach but in the middle of town with lovely view of the harbour area. Vincent at reception was extremely helpful. Only potential downside was the steep stairs to get to reception if you had heavy luggage or not great on the feet. We will be back.

A gorgeous view from our hotel room. Very central location. The hotel had sent us an email regarding the parking options, however it was not forwarded by Hotels.com, so we were unprepared. However it was quite a distance from any parking. Most of the free parking was full, although we did find some eventually - Paid for parking was closer but a queue to get in.

Thank you Deborah for your great review. In this very high season don't try to find a free parking, it's almost unpossible. And once you're out of the car you can do everything by feet. Just try to travel with light suitcases.

So disappointing
Firstly, nowhere to drop off bags in late morning because noone there and door locked until 3pm which we did not expect and had been travelling from Nantes and it was hot weather. Noone is there at night, either, didnt feel safe - if an emergency would not have been good. View from room was lovely but standard of room very tired and neglected. Was cheap room interior, in poor state of repair - shelf fell down, bedside shelf almost fallen down & all extremely basic and felt neglected. Bathroom towels old and no longer white - need throwing away!! This hotel definitely over priced. Harbour view and location of hotel is only good point. The photos supplied by hotel are misleading.

Mrs Dawn, I'm sorry you found the hotel over priced, even if it's very high season in a very touristic city, and right in the middle of the Harbour. At least you liked the harbour view, and the situation of the Hotel. Check in starts at 3PM, not before because we have to clean and prepare your room that former guests have just left. I am sorry you didn't read your email confirmation, where check in time is clearly written. Reception is open from 3PM to 8PM, after that you can call reception directly from your room (even if you don't see anyone behind the desk).

Harbour Views
Outstanding, a perfect location over looking the harbour and within the buzz of the night life and the many restaurants. Staff were very helpful. However a word of warning the parking is difficult as the hotel is located in a pedestrian only area . This was not made enough on booking.

Thank you for your review. You can drive to the hotel, its a restricted zone forbidden to anyone but not to Everyone. And you, as a guest, are allowed to drive and stay in front of the hotel for a 2 mn stop before going to the car park.

The building is in the medieval part of the city, with a very central and lovely situation. It doesn't have any elevator : it is written in the description of the hotel AND in the confirmation email you recieved. We gladly help with your luggage when you fail to travel light.

Lovely - we had a water-facing view and I could not stop looking out the French doors - absolutely beautiful. It’s super loud and active out there but the soundproofing doors work very well. Friendly people at reception. Room decor was new and cool and clean. Adored it.

Lovely place. The decor is so friendly, all boat themed - super cute. Very quiet, super welcoming staff. One caution for those that can’t do stairs - there is no elevator. I will definitely book again if I am back in La Rochelle.

Good location right at the port. not used to the check in times - unless we had caught a person who could let us it, we would have been stuck with out luggage until 5pm. There should be a way to enter and leave luggage, even if check in is later. Same applies to check out. We had to bring out luggage around with us from 11 am.

Worse experience ever
The hotel is in a great location on the docks with plenty to do around. Unfortunately we encountered a number of issues on our trip. 1. The street the hotel is on is a one way and was under constructions for month with makes the hotel inaccessible by car. 2. There is no help with the luggage, no elevator and the reception is on the first floor. I have broken legs so it was absolutely impossible to get up there no matter how hard i tried. 3. When we arrived it was late in the evening and my wife, my 7 years old and myself got accosted by 2 prostitutes with no shame. 4. That night (A Monday) was some sort of party (well i hope it’s not this way every night) and there was drunk people EVERYWHERE. 5. The hotel was unable to accommodate the deception and we ended up having to book a different hotel and sleep somewhere else. In the end this was a horrible experience with a hotel manager lying to us on the phone and unable to help us in any way. Thank god for HOTELS.COM that did help us. I will NEVER go to this hotel ever again and wish they were removed from the site…bad all around.

Pleasant hotel
Pleasant hotel although pictures on website were not reflective of the room offered. Also asked to pay an additional charge for the dog. Parking is a nightmare in La Rochelle-stressful and at least 1km from the hotel.

A lovely little hotel overlooking the harbour
The hotel is in an excellent position with many bars and restaurants on its doorstep. If possible I would recommend the sea view rooms at the front which would be stunning.

Great location within the port precinct with lots of restaurants and bars to choose from all within 100m of the hotel. Rooms are spacious and clean. Only downside is availability of onsite parking, however on request the hotel can arrange to reserve secure underground parking within 5mins walk at a discounted rate. Will certainly retrun just for the location

Great to be in the centre of La Rochelle but not so great that the car parking is a good 10 minute walk away and the hotel has no lift. Also we had 2 expensive bikes on the roof of the car and that posed a problem for security of them and parking. Our rooms were on the 3rd floor and hauling the luggage up was like a workout in the gym. Mixed reception from the 2 different ladies on the desk. Overall I would stay again if no bikes with us and an overnight bag only to take in. Not suitable for reduced mobility customers.

Thank you for your feed back. Yes, the hotel is located on the Champs Elysees of La Rochelle, so close to everything and in front of the Ocean, that's why the car park isn't just on the first floor. Don't hesitate to ask for a room at the lowest stair, just phone us ;)

We won’t come back.
Disappointing trip. Two flights of stairs with two 20kg cases isn’t fun. There needs to be a facility for bags to be carried from the street. Offering help once you’ve reached reception is too late. No facility to drop bags off and then park. A very busy spot and difficult to find in a car. We ended up parking a couple of streets away at great expense. We were expecting a sea view but the view was truly terrible. Be very careful which room you book. Toilet very small. An expensive trip for what you get!

We understand you were desapointed with the view, but when you choose a room with a courtyard view you can't expect to have the Sea View. Next time call the hotel if you need more information or any help.

Great location
The room was amazingly well soundproofed for its location so we got a great night's sleep even though we were right in the centre by the harbour. The View was just perfect. everything else about the room was lovely.

Looks rubbish from the outside but our room was beautiful, modern, clean. Definitely worth the upgrade for the ocean view. Staff could not be more helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend it, and return.

La Marine is located across the street from the Marina. Exceptionally located, surrounded by bars, restaurants, music, street performers and at walking distance to the Historical Center. The Hotel does not have a parking lot; however, they got an agreement with an underground parking garage close by at a discounted rate. Our room was large, nicely decorated, comfortable bed, a table with chairs placed under a large window with a 180-degree bay marina unobstructed view. The bathroom is equipped with modern furniture and an adequate shower compartment with a high water pressure head and handheld shower. They served breakfast early in the morning; breakfast is delivered to your room at no extra charge. Depending on the time of the year, you will encounter a roadblock to prevent traffic from accessing the marina. Nevertheless, you may go around it to unload your luggage. The staff was friendly, accommodating and polite. The Hotel staff made us feel at home. Thank you! I highly recommend La Marine Hotel.
