Historic Charleston

Posted Feb 9, 2016
Pros: The charm and uniqueness of this hotel were entrancing.
Cons: A little bit of mineral build up on the sink faucet - but this is the south and it is really difficult to avoid (grab some vinegar).
Location: Only one block from Market Street. Many restaurant options within walking distance.
This hotel was lovely. The room was gorgeous and very comfortable. Going in, I did not know about the parking situation (I did know there was a fee for valet parking, which I did, I just didn't know if that was the only viable alternative). It does appear that there are some public lots very nearby (Although I did not walk over and check the pricing or the allowed duration). I lost my reading glasses on the way to the hotel, and was also in need of batteries - there is a Harris Teeter within walking distance of the hotel (open 24 hours). This hotel was conveniently located to the historic district. It was an older building, full of charm, but also modernized, giving a fresh, cared-for feeling.

5 star

Pros: Our room was an upgrade which we weren't expecting. The wine and cheese and breakfasts were wonderful!
Location: Perfect location. We could walk to everything! City market, old churches, water front, many restaurants and museums were all a short walk.
The breakfast, wine and cheese every afternoon, courteous staff and lovely room (which was an upgrade) make this a 5 star hotel!

Great location; walking distance to everything!

Pros: Location and character.
Location: Perfect location for any of the attractions of Charleston
This hotel is perfectly located for first time visitors and for those who are staying a short time. It is close to all the attractions, restaurants, history and charm of Charleston. The hotel itself offers character and comfort. The roof top breakfast room provides a lovely view of the area. We highly recommend this hotel.

Great hotel even better location

Posted Jan 23, 2016
Very impressed by staff and hotel. Valet parked our car and could walk everywhere. The location is amazing. The staff was very friendly and really helpful. Room was spotless, bed comfortable and the hotel was well cared for. If we found a draw back it was the small bathroom. Would recommend this hotel to friends.

nice hotel in the center of Charleston

Posted Jan 8, 2016
Pros: Our room was two level with sitting room and half bath on the mail level with a kitchenette and an ensuite upstairs for sleeping and bathing.
Cons: Stronger water pressure for the shower. The bed was left unmade for the second night of our stay and a bag of fresh linens was tossed at our door.
Location: Walking distance to restaurants, shops, historical sites, the waterfront, and city market square.
Two night getaway, high walk ability score for this hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, special treats in the lobby all day, yummy breakfast, and delightful wine and cheese hour. Would highly recommend.

Perfect location

Posted Dec 24, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Young, front desk personnel could improve people skills.
Location: Within one block was the Charleston Carriage Company (extremely hospitable people); Hank's restaurant (yummy); The Market (don't need a lot of money).
Check-in wasn't great: Front desk personnel could have cared less if you came, left, died. Austin, the parking valet, on the other hand, was very welcoming. Checking out, different front desk personnel were very nice. Hotel was charming, within walking distance to every historic street, site, house, church and theatre; GREAT !! Comp breakfast was wonderful on rooftop with great view. Room was very clean - every day - and the housekeepers had personality plus. Wonderful, historic hotel. Would stay there again.

The staff was very friendly, helpful and efficient. Excellent breakfast. Valet parking was convenient and they let us keep the car in their parking even after we checked out.

The hotel is in a very good location for restaurants and things to see/do. You'll be able to walk to plenty of places. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable. Breakfast was simple but good. Be aware you're going to have to pay for parking. Also, street noise was loud and clear from our third floor room. We had a nice weekend and enjoyed our stay.
