poor public facilities

Posted Dec 31, 2016
Pros: the location
Cons: No it is a basic concept of a Guest Hose and not a luxary hotel/
Location: Good Location
for a such high rating hotel the public facilities are poor. The loby is at a diferent building. No space for brakefast. It is more like guest house than a 4.5 star hotel.

Sorry to hear you were confused about common areas and seating. In your building there was a 3-story atrium with seating available, there was a terrace open at anytime for our guests, and the lobby is a great place to stop when returning to the hotel, or for refreshments on your way out for the day. Please come back and check us out when you have more time to explore all that we offer here at the inn. Thanks and safe travels.

Excellent position but just so-so facility/service

Posted Nov 27, 2016
Pros: Just so-so
Location: Great!
The room is very simple and small. There was only two chairs, a tiny table and a queen bed in the room, but there's cockroach! The door boy didn't help to open and hold the door even saw I have very heavy suitcases. I think it Low Performance-to-Price Ratio to spend $289 for one night even it's Thanksgiving! Anyway, the breakfast is wonderful with the gorgeous sunrising on the fourth floor balcony. But I won't choose to stay here next time.

Great location

Posted Nov 26, 2016
Pros: Loved the location, breakfast, happy hour, and southern charm of a small hotel
Location: horse and buggy ride, market place, king Street
This hotel offers a great location to walk the downtown Charleston area. You are directly across the street from the horse and buggy ride, which is a must. A one block walk to the market and in very close walking distance to many fabulous restaurants. The hotel offers a very nice breakfast on the terrace of the 4th floor. They also offer a very nice wine and cheese happy hour from 4 to 5 on the terrace. The terrace is open all day for your pleasure. The women working the breakfast and happy hour and the maid staff were total South Charm and hospitality. The front desk could take a page out of their book.. The only problem we had was with the key cards to the room. For some reason they kept losing their activation. Three times I had to return to the front desk once on the 4th floor to have the card reactivated. Expedia said valet parking was $20 it was $25 and room prices did not match by $30 difference at check out. This has happened to me before with Expedia. Prices even in writing were different.

Thank you for your stay. Sorry to hear that you had key trouble. A lot of the time that is cause by keeping the cards near cell phones or other magnets in wallets or a purse. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay overall and do hope to welcome you back in the future. Thank you again and safe travels.

Pleasant stay, perfect location

Posted Nov 11, 2016
We had a very comfortable, enjoyable stay at this hotel. The room was large with tall windows looking out on a mostly quiet street; loved the Caribbean-style shutters. The king bed was very comfy with quality linens. After walking to all the nearby sights, we had wonderful nights' sleep! Breakfast was fine; not a huge selection of items, but what was offered was tasty and more than adequate to start the day. We liked the fresh fruit with yogurt and granola, mini quiches were delicious and there was a nice selection of pastries. There is also a wine and cheese hour in the evening. We didn't get to it since we were out and about, but I understand it was a lovely touch. The location of this hotel cannot be beat. It's right in the heart of the historic area; the carriage rides and the City Market are a block away. We walked everywhere; Charleston is a very walkable city and being centrally located made it so easy!

expedia foulup saved by great staff

Posted Nov 10, 2016
After Expedia failed to notify hotel of our reservation change , Rebecca , one of the check in staff , came to our rescue, after an hour and a half on the phone with Expedia to try to correct a booking error on their part, they finally refunded the difference of the upgrade we had requested . the next day Rebecca put us in the upgraded room at no extra charge. Every one there was welcoming.

Great location

Posted Oct 26, 2016
Pros: Bed comfort and location
Cons: Fan in bath did not work. Missed the sunshine with no window
Location: Tons to walk to, market and restaurants.
This hotel was very nice- very convenient to all Charleston has to offer. We really enjoyed the free breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese. Our complimentary bottle of Proseco was a thoughtful touch. Elizabeth was especially friendly at both breakfast and afternoon happy hour. Our room was small but clean and the bed and pillows were especially comfy. Wish our room had a window- a little claustrophobic, expected a window, not necessarily a view for wat we paid. Loved the ambiance in the lobby as well. We will definitely be back.

We're so happy to hear that you enjoyed our location and all of our extra little amenities. There was a window in your room. It was right next to the door. However, those small more economical petite queen rooms all feature windows that face the atrium rather than the street. The trade off is that they are also our quietest rooms as you saw. The bathroom fan also works as it is designed to have a steady flow of air quietly moving at all times rather than being operated by a switch. We're sorry that there was confusion and do hope that you'll be back soon!

Lovely hotel in a great location

Posted Oct 8, 2016
Location: The Inn is centrally located, with a supermarket 5-8 minutes walk away.
We stayed in a townhouse suite at the Andrew Pinckney Inn. The room, while beautifully decorated and very comfortable, lacked a few practical touches (e.g. glasses, bottle opener, etc) despite having a fridge and microwave. Similarly, the breakfast buffet was expansive and looked stunning. However, the breakfast terrace was tiny, hot and outdoors. The alternative breakfast space (which had no access to food and coffee) was two levels down, in an attrium between other rooms. Despite these minor challenges, our stay was very pleasant and we would recommend the Andrew Pinckney Inn to anybody looking for a lovely weekend away.

Thank you and we are so happy to hear that you'll be recommending us to others in the future. While there are some challenges to being in a historic property we like to think that it adds to the experience of staying here right in the heart of the Historic District. Our terrace may be small but it has an awesome view and is open to all of our guests at anytime not just during our two reception times. Thank you again and travel safe!

Staff was very friendly and attentive, especially your door people! Location is convenient to restaurants and shops. Really liked the small egg quiches on the complimentary breakfast buffet.

Pros: Location and clealiness
Cons: Please see comments under my experience.
Location: For visiting historic sights, the location was perfect.
Bed was comfortable but having a window face into a lounge was not a pleasant experience. There was only one chair in the room and only 2 drawers, 1 in each of the night tables so storage space was extremely limited. There were only a few tables on the roof top terrace and getting one at breakfast time was dicey.

We're sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with your stay. We are of course in historic buildings here and that does limit our space a bit from 'traditional' hotels. However, as you saw, our amenities are not lessened and our location cannot be beat. Thank you for your business and please do come back and see us again!
