Great place

Staff was great, clean facility near downtown. Pool was clean and not too busy. Would def stay here again

Not worth the price

Pros: The staff are very helpful and pleasant.
Cons: large puddles of water in the pet area attract mosquitos.
The room was not clean, the beds are not at all comfortable and the air conditioner was so noisy that sleep was impossible.

Very disappointing hotel stay!

Pros: The bed was comfortable.
Cons: I think this hotel needs lots of updates.
Location: You definitely need a car when staying here.
We were pretty disappointed with this hotel overall. I'll start with a few positives. We arrived early and were able to check in, parking and breakfast were free and we received free toothpaste when we ran out. Now for the not so positives. The location wasn't the best bc we had to drive to get to everything we wanted to do. There's a vacant lot next to the hotel that was littered with trash. There were several loud guests staying at the hotel, including the guests in the room next to us who decided to start beating each other up at 11:30pm our second night there. We also had a very loud air conditioning unit, and the phone and iron didn't work. We had to move rooms because of the noisy air conditioning unit. The manager finally agreed to compensate us by refunding a portion of our stay, so that was good.

Iffy neighborhood

The hotel itself was fine but the neighborhood was deteriorating and there was nowhere to walk to to eat except McDonalds. For the money, I would stay somewhere else.

Charleston getaway

Thus property is a well used motel and it shows. The location is not convenient, difficult to exit during mornings and afternoons due to traffic. Not near any restaurants other than a McDonald's. Close to downtown but not within walking distance.

Holiday Inn Express Charleston Dwtn worth it

Staff at the desk were amazing, friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was great and the folks running it were very personable; good quality food. The room was very nice and very clean. Only issue we had was with the room safe which the previous guest left locked. Took the staff 20 minutes to get it open but they did so in the end for us.

Just Ok

Just Ok if nothing else is available and if you can get a low rate. One of two elevators was broken during our entire stay which created issues for me since I'm disabled. I also alerted the staff upon booking by phone that I have a registered service dog but when I arrived the check-in attendant grilled me about do's and don'ts and gossiping that some other person did this or that with a service dog, very rude and unprofessional. Hotel was under staffed, no personnel seemed available at any time to assist with luggage or anything else. Signage at breakfast stated "trays are available" but after waiting 10 minutes I was told no trays were available. Staff seemed rude and short-tempered. WiFi didn't work at all on my 1st day, Ok on 2nd day. Pool is not heated and is right bedside parking lot so not exactly draw. This is a hotel you use to get to/from in Charleston. The hotel itself is not for lingering.
