Great location with wonderful ocean views

Posted Aug 26, 2015
This is 2nd year we've stayed here and love the view from room and location, but housekeeping could stand improvement. Bathroom could have been cleaner upon arrival and 2nd day, no liners put in baskets and I specifically asked for tissues as dispenser was empty, but no tissues were provided until 3rd day. Also, persistent bit of odd ?damp smell possibly coming from AC/Heat unit. Room is spacious and beds comfortable. Love the pool and wonderful fish tank and convenience of coffee shop.

Hotel with potential

Posted Aug 24, 2015
Pros: Location- right on the beach, close to several beach town restaurants. Most of the staff was very nice, they recommended places to go and what to eat.
Cons: Blankets and towels
Location: Nice beachtown restaurants, Black Magic Cafe is a MUST for breakfast, and Taco boy for dinner. Try the corn on the cob!
This hotel was actually recommended to me by a friend. Our stay was quite disappointing. The lobby and pool area are quite nice, however the room was disappointing. It's a bit worn and outdated. The hair dryer did not work, but it was replaced. There was no blanket on the bed when we got there, and had to ask 3 times to get one. It finally arrives and it's more like a bedspread than a blanket. We went to Walmart and purchased a blanket so I could sleep. The second day as housekeeping was cleaning (around 3pm) I was told they ran out of towels so she would have to come back with towels. At 6pm I called and asked where were my towels. They said they would bring them up. We went out, came back at 9pm and still not towels! So I went down to the front desk to get some towels. I was told they were in the dryer, and she finally gave me towels.

great little town

Staff is super friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home. Nice beach and facilities. Rooms need a little updating as far as plumbing and fixtures. Beds were comfy. Great place to visit and lots to do around Charleston especially if you're a history buff

Overall nice hotel on the beach

Posted Jul 6, 2015
Check in wasn't great. The staff more than made up for it after, very attentive when needed. The room was pretty clean however was a bit " worn ". Shower handle about to break. Vent in bathroom didn't work so wet suits wouldn't dry. Staff was very courteous and brought us what we needed. One even went and tracked down softer pillows.

Comfortable beach hotel

Posted Jun 30, 2015
Folly Beach Hotel was ideally located for a friend's wedding on the beach. Our room was comfortable with a great view over the beach and pier. We could watch numerous pelicans from the balcony throughout the day. Pool was fine, as was the ocean. Only minor drawback was the noisy air conditioning unit.

Great hotel right on the beach

Posted Jun 17, 2015
Pros: Expansive rooms, up-to-date furnishings, right on the beach, good restaurant.
Cons: I can't think of anything
Location: Folly is a beach town, scruffy around the edges and pretty crowded when we were there. We walked around a few blocks, but then came back to the hotel
This is exactly the hotel I had visualized. Coming into town from Charleston the hotel is a large slab of a building right in front of you (stay in the right lane, the left lane forces a turn). Into the parking lot, you are asked for your reservation and issued a parking tag. The lot is full, but there's a space! Into the hotel - it's 5:00 PM but the room's not ready (what?) One of the guest services people (his name is Jay - a very friendly guy) commiserates with us as we sit around waiting. Finally a phone call and the room is ready. The keys don't work. Back downstairs. Jay comes along with the new keys, opens the door, and shows us the room. A large glass door opens and there's the beach - big as life with the sound of the surf and the people and the sunshine - absolutely beautiful. Then downstairs and out the open doors directly onto the beach. This is the way it's supposed to be. Dinner on the terrace on the beach is great, eveything is nautical and sandy and terrific - we'll be back.
