When we got to our room we noticed a can of furniture polish had been left on the counter. We walked over to the bed and there was a candy wrapper on the floor by the bed so the room obviously wasn't cleaned very well. I went into our bathroom and there was no shower curtain, no bath mat and no soap. I went to the phone to call the front desk but the phone didn't work. My husband had to go back downstairs to get all of the missing items. The next morning I got in the shower and noticed that the tub was not draining and the water was backing up into the tub. The original drain plug was missing and there was a rubber gasket with a bolt through the center being used as a drain plug. A bunch of black gunk started coming up out of the drain. I had to go back down to the front desk to ask them to come fix the tub. I also asked them to send housekeeping to clean all of the black gunk out of the tub. When we went back to the room, neither of our key cards would work, so back down to the front desk we went again. We were told that sometimes the doors don't work. She gave us new card keys that worked. The maintenance person came right away. He took care of the clogged drain and replaced the rubber gasket with a new drain plug. We left for the day and, when we came back that night, we saw that housekeeping had been in the room and brought more towels, but they did not clean the tub as I had asked; the black gunk was still all in the tub. I used a washcloth to scrub it.

The staff is very nice. The property is clean and maintained. For a cheaper hotel it’s a good choice. It is an older hotel but it’s in good condition. Pool and hot tub were clean and heated.

We really enjoyed our stay, everything was cleain, staff was friendly, Continental breakfast was good. My only complaint, whi h I am sorry I have to make, becauae everything else was fantastic; but you have to get better mattresses. I would stay here in a heart beat it was wonderful, but i would struggle unless the mattresses were changed

The room was very nice and clean, the counter clerk was a bit difficult at arrival, but the cleaning and waiting staff was exceptionally great. The breakfast buffet was always delicious and well layed out for ease of access. Bathroom in the room did not have a working humidity vent. And the elevator walking distance was a bit too far for my disabled husband. Would recommend overall.

Very nice hotel right off the highway and in a safe and quiet neighborhood. Staff was also very friendly and when I had to leave early to go home and couldn't spend the last night, she was very understanding and refunded me for that night even though I didn't check out until almost 5pm. Would stay again.

A nice facility: Check-in was easy, and the desk staff was friendly and helpful. My room was quite large, clean, and well-maintained (although there was a shower curtain issue that I worked around but reported to the desk for maintenance). There are many eating places (fast-ish, not fine dining) on the nearby main road.

I travel to Charleston often and I won’t be back. When I checked in the coffee maker had old coffee and was not clean .. I cleaned it. You’re welcome … The next day, my bed was made but bathroom was not cleaned. I can’t believe that NOTHING is available in the lobby. The closet CVS is over a mile walk to purchase WATER. HOW ABOUT A VENDING MACHINE? Bye

I stayed at Wingate the weekend of March 8th. Front Desk Staff was beyond rude and insulting with no regard to customer service at all. Upon arrival on Saturday, told Front Desk Staff my room key was left at the front desk by my boyfriend who had to checkin the night prior. Without even looking, she said no key was left and was immediately dismissive. Tried reasoning with her by showing her receipts that I booked and paid the room reservation and I had both my name and boyfriends name on the reservation, but his name was listed so he could check-in the day prior without me. She remained dismissive suggesting my name wasn’t on the reservation and she wouldn’t look for or provide me my room key. After asking for her Manager and having my boyfriend talk to her on the phone, she then looked and found that my key was left after all. Her tone and attitude softened completely and she was apologetic, but I feel disappointed that she profiled me from the onset. Does not matter that I (not my boyfriend) was the actual customer - she should have listened to reason and made more of an effort to amicably resolve the issue. Tried reaching out to Wingate Mgmt to resolve and did not receive a response.
