Room was "Meh", Valet Parking A Surprise

Posted Aug 22, 2016
Pros: In spite of everything, the location turned out well for me, not too far from the interstate. Food was good, even the breakfast which was very much i

Booking a room at almost the last minute, you make compromises and accept them. Rather like the hotel management made when they tried to put a New York boutique style hotel in downtown Charlotte. Room was neat, clean, and ready - and I was not really disturbed by the occasional corridor noise from apparent party goers. Staff were friendly and willing but didn't fully meet expectations given the hotel's presentation. The cable tv channels on offer appeared to be the majority of those 800 channels that no one watches (who watches cable tv shopping channels in a hotel?), and the ones you might expect to find all came with a message that you needed to make arrangements to get them. Food service in the hotel was open late enough that even with an almost 10pm check in, I was able to get a meal in the hotel without resorting to room service. Breakfast the next morning was the standard hotel offering but ample and well attended! As others have noted, the valet parking snuck up on me but under the circumstances was a part of the deal I'd made to get a badly needed room at relatively short notice during a two day road trip that wasn't too far from my route.

Great downtown hotel!

Posted Aug 8, 2016
Pros: The views of the city at night were the best. The buffet breakfast was great, and again, can't say enough good things about the staff!
Cons: Parking is valet only - no problem. But with so many one way streets around, it is difficult for first timers to maneuver.
Location: Highly recommend the South 21 Drive In on Independence Ave for classic burgers and onion rings all made fresh, never from frozen.
Booked this downtown hotel because of the views it offered of the downtown area. The hotel staff was exceptional. Every single person who works there greets you when they see you in the hallways. So friendly! Very new, very modern hotel. The only thing keeping this from a five star rating from me is the location - several one way streets around the hotel make getting to the entrance for parking a bit time consuming. You have to drive past the hotel and make several right hand turns to get on the correct street to turn into the valet parking area. Valets are excellent though and fast.

Pretty clean, great breakfast and small pool. Other than that it was very nice. I would recommend this hotel to someone else.

Nice hotel, dated bathroom.

Posted Jul 31, 2016
Great staff, great breakfast but unclean dishes. Old bathroom with dirty tile grout, and moldy smell when you turn off the AC. Checkin staff didn't explain why $100 was being withheld and that it is refundable.

Nice Location with easy access downtown locations

Posted Jul 29, 2016
Pros: Clean and the breakfast was great.
Location: Perfect for anyone visiting down town for business or pleasure.
It was easy to find the place and it was located few steps from the down town convention center. The rooms were clean and big. The breakfast was great. Couple of things were no so great - this hotel build looks like it is part hotel and part condo building and the parking access is from behind. Can not see from the main road. At around 4:30 AM, I could hear some sort of dripping, loud enough to wake me up.

Nice downtown hotel in Charlotte, NC

Posted Jul 23, 2016
Hotel was very nice, clean, friendly staff. Breakfast was great! Not very safe looking outside hotel. Right next to bus depot. We also had a 6:00 am fire drill. Walking down 12 flights of stairs was scary and upsetting. Overall a quick stay.

Beware of parking

Posted Jul 18, 2016
Pros: Staff friendly - clean & spacious room.
Cons: PARKING!!!!!!!!!!!
There is no parking at this hotel. You will be held hostage by the valets at the parking garage. We asked for our vehicle because we had left a few items that we needed. Valet refused to bring us our car. They insisted they retrieve our items. Upon doing so, they dropped and broke my iPad. Now the Hyatt and the Parking Management Company state that they are not liable for my damages. I am extremely irritated!!! Also, the breakfast buffet ran out of food and it took a long time to be replenished. I will never stay here again.
