Beautiful B&B near downtown Charlotte

Posted Aug 6, 2015
Pros: Location, décor, comfort, room size, amenities, sense of history
Location: Anything in downtown Charlotte!
Very pleasant and enjoyable stay. A beautiful home with period decoration and expansive rooms. Unfortunately we had to miss breakfast. We were only in town for one night but look forward to staying here the next time we are in Charlotte!

Pros: Charming setting, lovely grounds, excellent service and food
Location: It is close to Midtown where there are lots of offices and shopping and restaurants and Trader Joe's!
We enjoyed our experience thoroughly.. We were in Charlotte on business although we both grew up in Charlotte and remembered the Inn when it was a residence.

Unfortunate mix of old, formal, cheap, neglected

Posted Jan 14, 2013
I love B&Bs: I was married at one and have stayed at many in a number of states. This is an Inn, so differs a bit in size and probably more. Still, this place just didn't feel good. It's a big old stately looking house but your ascent up the sweeping staircase ends in a fire door and wall to wall carpet that appears to be decades old. It appears that the big spaces have been awkwardly carved up to accomodate mulitple rooms with the overall impression being a weird and uncomfortable flow. There's a second floor sitting area that looks like nobody ever would sit there. My room had a maroon wall to wall carpet with perfect outlines of the furniture above it in dust. The bed had a hollow in the mattress. The chairs were likewise lumpy, dusty, uncomfortable and old. The lighting was horrible. Breakfast was fine. I was glad to leave.

Charlotte Historical Inn

I had to depart very early (2:00 am) to catch train. So couldn't get breakfast originally included. It would be perfect if they could give me breakfast box or snack.
