One of my go-to hotels while in Charlottesville

Posted Nov 29, 2017 on Hotels
Almost always stay here when in town for a late UVA basketball game. Huge room, free breakfast, and a short walk to my favorite watering hole - Sedona Taphouse. Something new they added on this stay was a resident even from 6:00 - 7:30. For Monday night, that meant two free glasses of wine (or beer), cheese, hummus, etc. - fantastic. Small workout room to boot. Great location (tons of shopping across the street), very friendly staff.

Below our expectations

Posted Nov 13, 2017 on Hotels
First, the mattress was very soft and worn out. It didn't offer support for my wife or me. Overall the condition wasn't what I would expect from a Marriot hotel. Musty odor in the hallways. Staff dressed casually and no uniforms. Some housekeepers seemed to have uniforms. The breakfast was very good. The staff was very friendly, helpful and considerate.

Solid choice!

Posted Nov 3, 2017
Stayed the weekend of Oct 28-29th. We come to Charlottesville on a pretty regular basis to visit my niece at UVA and like to stay for the night - so we try out different places to stay. First time at this hotel and thought everything was great. Most noticeable was the woman at the front desk - professional, friendly, helpful. Rooms are certainly great if you’re staying for a while - kitchen, living room area, etc. it was only one night for us - but still appreciated being able to make a cup of coffee in the morning. Everything was clean and in good shape. Would definitely stay again!

Good location, spacious rooms

Posted May 7, 2017
Pros: Breakfast, spacious rooms.
Cons: Ensure the Internet is working at all times.
Location: Barracks Road shopping center, UVA, close access to restaurants.
I stayed at this Residence Inn location for five nights, and overall the stay was good. The suites are spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was varied and good each day. All day coffee was available with a selection of coffee creams that I prefer. The fitness room was adequate but the cardio machines did not suit me. Fortunately, guests can visit the nearby Gold's Gym, which is aging but a good option for guests who want a good daily workout. One day the Internet went down. It took a good portion of the day for the staff to sort out the problem with the ISP but it was resolved satisfactorily. The location was very good, walking distance to the Barracks Road Shopping Center, close to Route 29, and about a mile away from the UVA grounds. It's price was very competitive for the area. Recommended.

This would be a very good hotel if new mattresses

Posted Sep 26, 2016
Pros: Spacious, lots of parking and not too far from the University.
Cons: as I mentioned before, the mattresses
Location: Close to the big shopping mall that is an outdoor shopping mall. Short drive to the university
The hotel is located on a quiet street behind the main shopping mall, Barracks Row. The rooms are quite spacious. They have a desk area, kitchenette and living room space. If they would get new mattresses it would be a very good place to stay.
