Outdated

Posted Oct 23, 2017
The room I had was very outdated, especially the bathroom. Lack of electrical outlets as proven by power bars loaded with plugs. Lamps were obviously tri-lights without the proper type of bulb for choice of lighting. Other than that lobby was impressive with beautiful antique features kept. Staff great. Food excellent as was the service.

Central Location

Posted Oct 20, 2017
Pros: It was very pretty and comfortable. Located right downtown near all the venues. Staff were lovely.
Cons: Learn about food allergies. I had reactions all the days I was there. Make sure all the staff understand food allergies.
Location: Shopping, walking, plays, music events, art galleries, artisans, history, great antique book store near by. Lovely town.
Hotel is being renovated so forget an afternoon nap. It would not be possible even with ear plugs. Serving staff know very little about food allergies. I was served wheat rolls with my gluten free dinner and same at breakfast for home fries fried in oil with gluten products. Had to be super specific and still had trouble. I found the staff very friendly and well meaning. The room was super comfy except for the inevitable noise from the renovations. I was at a conference there and that was also comfortable. Again there was one set of tongs for the gluten free crackers and for the wheat crackers. Gluten Free is an Allergy like peanuts even if it has also become the latest fad diet. People were using the tongs for the cheese and fruit and then the wheat and gluten free products. I gave up and went to a health food store and picked up bananas and gluten free snacks for myself.

Loved this hotel!

Posted Oct 18, 2017
Pros: Loved the architecture, the history, the decor, and loved having our morning coffee on the verandah!
Cons: Pool and sauna were wonderful, jets in the hot tub were not very strong though.
Location: Great location, within walking distance to so many things!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Rodd. We actually came back for a second night here. The location is perfect, staff were very friendly and we loved the boutique feel. The fall decorations were lovely as well, and the verandah is a perfect place to enjoy coffee in the morning. We wish we could have stayed longer and had a chance to try out a meal in the dining room. We will definitely return!

Great location

The hotel is old but has so much character. It was a lovely place to stay. The roof top patio is wonderful although the weather wasn't the best while we were there. It is a great location for walking the waterfront and area

Tired old hotel

Posted Oct 4, 2017
Needs updating. Beds are double and too soft. Bathroom is tiny. Shower is awful. Best I can say is location is great and parking is free.

Great Location - Needs updating

Posted Sep 27, 2017
Cons: Rooms need to be modernized
Location: Great - in downtown - close to restaurants etc.
Great location, very convenient, lots of facilities, well structured. It just needs to be updated. Rooms a little old and worn out.

The Rodd was our first experience in PEI

Posted Sep 26, 2017
Arriving around 5pm and finding a spot in front to park was rewarding in that we had a lot of luggage. It was difficult having to take a cart through the patio and bar area in order to get to the elevator. The rooms are not spacious enough for two people with luggage, however we made due and enjoyed the hotel whether it was sitting at the patio in front or the roof top. Staff was very informative and made great efforts in answering all our requests. Great walking distance to Mall, restaurants and to the water's edge.

Hi MJ Thanks for your feedback from your recent stay and for choosing PEI for your road trip. Sorry that you struggled with your luggage upon check in as we could have had one of our housemen easily assist with bringing it in. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed our great location and our front terrace and rooftop patio. We will be starting our renovations this fall beginning with our guest bathrooms and sure hope you will have the opportunity to come back on your next road trip.
