Beautiful hotel with a small problem

We had a lovely and relaxing 7 nights in this beautiful beach side resort. It was a really special week with great food, drinks and most importantly service which was out of this world. Our only problem was that our room had a smell of sewage (room 302 for info). The hotel were already aware of the problem and let us know that some other rooms had a similar problem. They replaced lit candles a couple of times throughout the trip to mask the smell. This is no fault of the lovely staff working at the resort but should be fixed by management who are very clearly aware of the issue.

Perfect

It was a perfect vacation and the hotel staff were to thank for that, the service was excellent and the food was great. Our room was always spotless and the beach was beautiful. The fire show was very entertaining and our kids loved it. I would recommend the Tree Tops restaurant for fine dining .. a bit pricey but good value for money The location is a 2 minute drive from Chaweng market which was just perfect for us. We were with our 2 kids 5 and 8. I would recommend it for families if they plan to go on day tours and excursions because it was lovely to come back to a relaxing hotel after a full day of activities and the kids were always happy to go back to the pool in the room which gave us time to relax guilt free! The beach offered free kayaks and life jackets which added to the kids fun as well as that lovely little boat that came to the beach to sell fruit at market prices. All in all it was an excellent 10 days spent. Kind regards Mrs Farah

Nice hotel on a quiet stretch of beach.

Pros: Attention to detail.
Cons: More wine choices at reasonable prices. Fewer kids.
Location: Quiet stretch of beach but within a 10 minute week you can get to the craziness of Chaweng beach. We preferred BoPhut.
Really enjoyed the hotel facility but the prices in both restaurants were jacked up. The breakfast buffet which was included was quite the spread but we tried to avoid eating or drinking much otherwise at the hotel because it is so much cheaper outside the resort.

Anantara Lawana

The resort is very near the airport , about a slow 10min drive and it is not difficult to find. It takes about 10min to get down to Chaweng Shopping area as well. The bophut shopping area is also not that far away about 10km off by road. In the immediate vicinity there isn't much - a convenience store , a nice new massage shop, a tour agent office across the road from the resort. The ananatra resort ambience is present. However the pool villa will do better if there is a bluetooth speaker provided. There are stagnant pools by the walk paths which I feel maybe breeding grounds for mosquitoes. There is no source for new water to flow in. I stayed for 5 nights so got bored with the breakfast spread. Was surprised Thai Milk tea is not available. The self help noodle stall was good but can do better if its not the same meat addition , or the same 2 types of noodle choice every day.

Wonderful place

celebrated my birthday here, and what a great choice. Staff were friendly the premises were clean and tidy. The breakfast was awesome, great selection and service was impeccable. The staff even went above and beyond by coming to my room to deliver a birthday cake and sing for me. Couldn't have asked for more. Thanks Anantara!

Good but not great!

Cons: Facilities. General mod cons. Ability for staff members to be more authoritative to unruly guests
Location: Good location
We wanted a relaxing holiday stay, but didn't really get it. The two main issues that spoilt our stay are: 1) Room quality - It seems like quite a while since it's last renovation. The room was poorly lit. The air conditioning unit in the bedroom was loud, with no controls and constantly leaking. The bathroom had no extractor fan so it was hot and smelled of damp. 2) The pool area - We found a severe lack of respect by some guests on the house rules and consideration for other guests, with the hotel staff to polite to do anything about it. For example, a family with young boys played frisbee by the pool area and in close proximity of the sun beds. One time the frisbee hit my wife but the parents of the children didn't even tell them to stop. Shortly after they hit another guest on the back of the head but carried on playing. A very impolite family. This is just one example of the many rude guests we found at the hotel. The standard of facilities and types of guests make the hotel feel very much like a 3 star establishment.
