I booked last minute and get pretty bad motion sickness. I need to have a window seat because of it. I asked to switch at the gate and they told me they didn’t have any but were able to move me to a different middle seat closer to the front of the plane. As I was boarding, the gate attendant told a Standby passenger/airline employee he had a seat for her and he gave her the option of a window seat. She chose the other option due to more legroom so I asked for the window seat and he did give it to me. I’m glad I was there to hear it was an option since he obviously didn’t think to offer it to me even though I had asked earlier. I bought a last minute ticket and paid a hefty fare. Would be nice to offer the better seats to a passenger like me instead of an employee flying standby. I got the seat I needed and didn’t get sick so I am happy about that, but if I wasn’t there to hear him talking to the employee/standby passemger, then That wouldn’t have been the case. I don’t like to be a person that hovers around the gate but I guess you need to if you have a special request.
