Pros: Price was very good. Staff friendly. Breakfast included. Clean.
Cons: Just general upgrading. But then price would go up!
Location: 10 mins to main street but restaurants etc much nearer. Had lovely 24hours in Chester. Shops, lovely buildings, Cathedral, Good museum.
Was a cheap night away. Hotel was just what we expected. Staff very friendly and helpful. Decent breakfast. 10 min walk to main street. Handy for train station.

Pros: Check in staff were very helpful
Cons: Location maps would be nice, we managed to get "half" a map!!
Location: Chester is lovely.
Only there one night, and didn't have too much to compare it with

Handy location for the train station, the staff were helpful, but apart from that nothing to recommend it. The hotel itself was outdated and scruffy, the room was dusty and old fashioned, the bathroom dirty to the point of being nearly unusable. For the price, I was v disappointed and will be complaining

Decent City Break Hotel

Pros: The room was a comfortable temperature despite the cold weather and I didn't need to use the radiator. Water heated quickly
Cons: General decor, better lightswitches and window frames.
Location: Near station and Live Rooms. 10 minute walk to compact city centre that can also be reached along the nearby canal past the cathedral and city walls
Booked a reduced price double room for just myself (no singles availabe) at short notice for a one night stay in Chester where I was attending an event. I had driven but couldn't find parking details on the expedia link or the hotel page. A review suggested the pub next door. I phoned to check and this was indeed the case. It turned out to be a Pay and Display, £10 for 24 hours and the machine was broken so I needed to get a ticket from the barman. No problem though. It was foul weather when I arrived at about 5pm so I didn't linger after checking in and instead took advantage of a break in the rain to head into the city to get something to eat nearer the venue. Room looked OK, if a little dated. I closed the window but this was a bit of a trial because the original window had been repaired with modern brackets and required a bit of force. Conventional key was a surprise, I hadn't seen a hotel room without a card lock for a while. I returned after midnight and the lights were off, although the front door was open and reception visible. The room was a comfortable temp despite the heating being off and I didn't need to turn it on at all. My main moan gripe was that I couldn't find the switches for the overhead lights and had to use the TV. Apparently they may have been behind the headboard but I couldn't see them. Buffet breakfast was £10 and worth it. I was late down but it was still of decent quality and there was plenty. Staff all very pleasant.

Location: The location was good and if weather had been better there would have been more to see.
The hotel was clean and the staff very helpful, thought for the price we paid it was expensive should have included breakfast for the price we paid. Having stayed in the Hallmark in Gloucester where everything was included and just as good a hotel etc, I feel that is something maybe needs to be looked at. We certainly won't be going back again. The breakfast was fine but not very warm for the full cooked option.

Pros: Near to train station and shops
Cons: A bit of money needs spending on it
Location: Near to train station and shops.
The hotel was basic but comfortable. We had a family room for the 3 of us and it had double and single beds in. In need of a makeover and TLC but it was clean. Slept well, bed comfortable. The amount of time we spent in the hotel, it suited us as we were shopping etc. Didn't have breakfast. Staff friendly especially the girl in the bar. 3 star. No car park but the pub next door had a car park where you could park for £5 all day and the train station car park costs £5 for 24 hours.

Pros: It had a TV and it was totally silent
Cons: A lot
Location: The parking was in walking distant, I walked into town
The bed was horrible, you could not leave a window open because of a noise of motor outside,it had no clothes hangers, it had the bare minimum of everything, could not use the shower, the flashing of the toilet was weak, the whole place needs updating even with 3 stars
