Booking at this hotel, it was not clearly stated that attendance to the new year’s party was compulsory. It would have not been a big deal except that the notice in hotels.com was posted under fine print AND the price did not come cheap. I wrote the hotel, but to no avail, it was my fault for not reading the fine print. At check-in, I nicely discussed with the front desk person my dilemma. In short, the hotel accommodated my request not to attend the dinner and instead offered us a new year’s eve cocktail in the garden. Win-win! Price of the dinner was not the issue, being forced to attend an event was. I suggest Hotels.com be more careful in disclosing deals like this. If a hotel booking rate that had bfast and one without is an issue to buyers, should a $350/room additional charge not be a concern too? In the end, it was a great escape. Le Meridien staff are superb! Location is central! And by the way, don’t get caught on the “right beside the night market” because there are night markets at ever block!
