Posted Jan 27, 2016

Excellent hotel in heart of cityPosted Jan 23, 2016
Cannot say enough good things about Tamarind Village. The staff are brilliant and were especially great with our 8 month old baby daughter. The grounds are lovely and the hotel very tranquil despite being in the centre of the old town. Breakfast is a very good buffet and the restaurant dinners we had were also very tasty. We really enjoyed our four nights here and would highly recommend Tamarind Village.

Peaceful oasis in busy cityPosted Jan 20, 2016
Cons: Faster WIFI
Location: Lots of beautiful Wats. Many places to eat and drink. A lively nightlife
A lovely place stay. Our room was a bit basic - I wish I'd gone for a larger one. Staff are outstanding. Recommended as a great quiet base for visiting Chiang Mai

Old town setting but noisy.Posted Dec 31, 2015
Pros: Breakfast, walking temple tour, craft activity.
Cons: Noise. Provide ear plugs. Advertise as a family and children centered hotel not a boutique hotel. Leave candles in room because of smell. Fix wifi.
Location: Lots of temples close by, shops, restaurants, spas, and on street of Sunday walking market.
Positives are: the location in old town for the Sunday walking market on the street of the hotel; the buffet breakfast is plentiful and large; and the complimentary village walking tour to neighborhood temples to give food alms to a monk is interesting. The staff are helpful. We took part in umbrella painting; they have a 3 pm craft activity. The thing we did not like is the noise. There were many children at the hotel and they were very noisy, running around courtyard, playing in pool, crying, etc. Also, the room walls are thin and it was hard to sleep well because local dogs barked through the night and roosters crowed all night. It was not a restful, tranquil resort as described by others. The deluxe Lana room on 2nd floor that we stayed in did not have an outdoor sitting area as advertised. The building corridor roof is low on the ground floor and my tall husband had to duck at times. The room had a musty smell and while they placed candles in the room the first day, they took them out after. Also, we had a problem with Internet and it did not work the first day. They finally gave us a plug-in router to use in the room after complaining, which worked. The pool is surrounded by tables for breakfast, all day dining restaurant, lobby. It is too busy for relaxation or any seclusion. We did not use it.

Best hotelPosted Dec 17, 2015
Our best hotel experience in Thailand (visited 5 different hotels). It is not the fanciest, but it has so many special things for guests. They do make you feel like a special person. Open air activities like folding flowers, and a very cozy environment make it a very special place inside Chiang Mai. Restaurant was absolutely delicious; we didn't even cared to try a different one. All personal treats you in a very special way. Excellent guided walk tour around the temples close to the hotel, including everything, but long enough so that you don't get tired. I definitely recommend this hotel.

Lovely charming place, a quiet oasisPosted Dec 14, 2015
Location: Location is great right in the old city, but sheltered in its own garden.
There is a reason why they call this hotel the Tamarind ViIlage. The rooms are spread out among the green landscape and it is a quiet oasis in the middle of the bustle of the Old City. Great location. The breakfast was lovely. They also have free daily activities in the afternoon, such as flower arrangement etc. A very pleasant place to be.

Wonderful, tranquil hotel!Posted Dec 8, 2015
Location: Plenty to see and do, close to night bazaars and temples.
Wonderful, peaceful hotel in the middle of the bustling old part of Chiang Mai. Accommodation was first rate and food was delicious. Staff were gentle and friendly. The pool was a welcome respite at the end of the day. The best tour was directly booked on line with Elephant Nature Park.
