Great characterPosted Oct 8, 2011 on Hotels
On the plus side, the buildings are spectacularly picturesque, in attractive grounds. The refurbishments have been done sympathetically. Minus points are that the jacuzzi in our room was not working (we'd paid extra for a superior room), the bar & pizzeria were not open in the afternoon when we arrived, and the location is rather isolated - a car is essential. Overall, good vfm.

hotel with atmosphere and character but don't go in August if you want an evening mealPosted Oct 12, 2010
Hotel in oustandingly beautiful surroundings - although a little off the beaten track - would have not felt so isolated if restaurant had been open for dinner. As staff on reception spoke no English it took us ages to find a village where we could get something to eat and then it was only a toasted sandwich. Hotel has character and atmosphere - was expecting the Knights of the Round Table to emerge from the galleries at any moment. Room was huge and comfortable with pleasant bathroom and lovely period furniture. Breakfast was excellent and judging by what was served for breakfast would assume that dinner in the restaurant would have been excellent too - so avoid August if you want to "eat in"!!

Hôtel magnifique et convivialPosted May 17, 2010
