perfect spot to start our sightseeing from !!!

Posted Oct 21, 2016
Pros: the café was just next door and served an expansive breakfast buffet at a very good price. You won't leave hungry guaranteed, close to transportion !
Cons: it was what was advertised and exactly what we expected !!!! Quiet and comfy !!!!
Location: Our trip was to visit our granddaughter at the Univ of Chicago and site see and there was plenty to see !!! we used bus, el train, red line and uber !
the hotel shows it's age but it was a clean and located in a close proximity of everything we came to see !!!! the staff was friendly and helpful !!!! The café served an excellent dinner menu and more than enough at reasonable cost !!!

Pathetically dirty rooms, poor maintainance.

Posted Oct 19, 2016
Rooms are very dirty, carpet feels soiled. Aircondition was not working, coffee machine was broken. This should be categorized under motels and doesn't deserve the price it charges currently. Dissapointed!

Good deal for the price

Posted Oct 8, 2016
Pros: Spacious room, free Wifi, friendly staff. There is free parking too. Buses to museums, and downtown run often, a few blocks away.
Cons: Carpets could be changed. Maybe add more frequent shuttle service, and include shuttle to El station.
Location: Close to University of Chicago, great bookstores (57th Street, Seminary) Medici Cafe and Bakery, Museum of Science and Industry, Oriental Institute

It was a $200.00 motel 6 experience.

Pros: Nothing except that the receptionist was very nice. The hotel facility should be knocked down and rebuilt. It is great location
Location: Location is great but hotel needs to be rebuilt in order to charge money they want to charge. Which could be worth it if it was a better hotel.

Reservation not honored

Posted Sep 22, 2016
Pros: not one thing. didn't check in as the reserved room was not available. Had to look for a new hotel at midnight, after driving for 15 hours.
Cons: honor your reservations. if someone pays 3 weeks in advance, make sure the requested room is available for the entire stay, not just the first night.
Location: next to a college, so our visits for 4 years would have been guaranteed had they honored our reservation
I paid IN FULL 3 weeks in advance for one room with two double beds, non-smoking, for two nights. When I got to the hotel after driving for 15 hours, I was told that they could give me one room for one night non-smoking, but could not guarantee a non-smoking room for the second night. The hotel supposedly guarantees late arrivals, yet they could NOT PROVIDE US WITH THE ROOM THEY ACCEPTED PAYMENT FOR. The receptionist blamed Expedia. I called Expedia, they blamed the hotel. The receptionist "explained" how the system works and how there will be numbers of people checking out the next day and perhaps a non-smoking room will be available. I told her I don't care about their computer system, all I care about is getting the non-smoking room for two nights I paid for. She could not guarantee it and I wasn't going to check in and then be forced to spend the second night in a smoking room because they were never going to find me a non-smoking room. So we didn't check in and went looking for a new hotel, two females at midnight in Chicago. My daughter is starting college, and this was going to be our hotel to go to for the next 4 years for every visit. I already cancelled an October stay with them. I will never go back to this hotel, and would not recommend it to anyone, as they are willing to overbook and ignore what was already reserved. Worst hotel experience ever.

Clean, functional room for a great price

We recently stayed 4 nights at the Lake Shore. The bed was comfortable and the everything was in working order. You can't beat the price for the proximity to the shore.
