Pros: safety
Cons: n/a front desk help as far as transportation to the city and directions around the area
Location: close to university of chicago, which was where we went to a concert
The front desk clerk was unable to give us directions to the hotel from interstate 55.

NOT 3 stars hotel

Posted Jan 28, 2016
It's price of 3 stars hotel, but it's definitely not a 3 stars hotel. It looks like a motel and feels like a motel. The air-conditioner in the room is terribly loud, and air is stuffy and unhealthy. However otherwise if you switch it off you will become frozen.

Pleasantly surprised

Posted Jan 27, 2016
I had been passing over this place every time I visited Chicago because of the reviews and ratings. I decided to go ahead and give it a shot this time and I'm glad I did. It does have a little bit of a motel look to it on the outside but that's where it stops. The woman that checked us in was very nice, as was any other staff member I interacted with during our stay. When I walked into my room the first thought I had was how nice it smelled. The room was spacious with a comfortable chair as well as a desk and nice office chair. Even the bathroom was roomy. We ate at the on-site restaurant twice and the service and food was wonderful. As a bonus they have a shuttle to the University of Chicago and other local places. I will be staying here again!

Cheap and weird hotel.

Posted Jan 19, 2016
Cons: New paint in hallway
Location: Museum, right next to the lake
Not much to see here. If you need a cheap south shore hotel, you can stay at this place or the Quinta Inn next door (which at least from the outside, looks much nicer but definitely a little pricier). Weird set-up; I had to go IN to the Quinta Inn in order to check in to THIS hotel (same employee handling both hotel's front desks). Check-in was fine, no issues. Front area sort of dumpy. Hotel is designed like a motel. That is, you drive up near your room, park there, go inside. Hallways dingy, with peeling paint. Room was okay, small but clean and enough space for 1-2 people. TV okay, with some premium channels. Fridge/Microwave. Check-out was fine, nice friendly staff. I would stay again if I needed a room south, depending on the price. Not a place to stay if trying to impress someone.

Ok room if it's just yourself and no one else.

Very surprised to discover the Lake Shore hotel I had stayed in a year ago no longer existed they were now LaQuinta and these extremely small rooms next door were now Lake Shore. The doors did not meet together at the top and although only two stories the stairs are steep and no elevator for elderly or those experiencing medical problems. The room numbers are listed on a piece of paper taped to the door. Never found the ice machines. I expected more.

This hotel is cheap for a reason

Posted Nov 19, 2015
Pros: Free parking, and that its close to downtown.
Cons: Everything specially the carpets.
Location: 6.1 miles from Millennium Park, 5.3 miles from the museums and 7.4 miles from Magnificent Mile.
When we checked in the host was rude. I have trouble hearing him so i kept asking him to repeat himself and he seemed annoyed by that and gave me a bit of an attitude. Our room was located on the 2nd floor of the building and the stairs are filthy and old. The room is a little below okay. I mean its cheap so you get what you paid for. Wifi is very slow. In general this hotel/motel is out dated. I've read some reviews and apparently some rooms are updated but ours was not.
