Overall, it’s a nice place to stay. Clean, fairly comfortable, close to a lot of restaurants and right next to a train line. But the building is really old, with super squeaky floorboards. I stayed on the third floor (out of four), and every time people walked around on the floor above me, I could hear it creaking very loudly in my room, to the point that I had trouble falling asleep the first night when it was pretty bad. If you’re a sound sleeper, you might not mind. But otherwise, request a fourth floor room away from the elevator to avoid this issue.

I liked the retro look inside the rooms. It’s an older building so if you like brand new it’s not the place for you. If you love old history and want to stay in a cool room this is the place for you. Right around the corner from Vic theatre. I would for sure stay here again.

Came to Chicago for a concert at the Vic Theater, which is just a block away. I chose city suites purely for its proximity to the theater and am happy I did. Stayed in a king sized room for three nights and was very happy with the visit. The building is kinda old but has been updated fairly recently. But Things like the steam radiators and the tiny elevator added to the early 1900’s vibe and charm. The hotel was very clean, the bed was softer and more comfortable than most hotels I’ve been to and the room size was more than adequate for two people. Maybe it’s due to the time of year but there didnt seem to be many other visitors so it was nice and quiet for the whole stay. Location is fantastic, less than a mile walk to Wrigley Field, the lake front, loads of restaurants, shops and theaters, and the L station to take you downtown is right next door (but surprisingly not noisy). Staff was courteous and helpful. I would definitely not mind staying here again if I’m ever back in Chicago.
