Beward of "Deals" - I WILL NEVER BOOK AGAIN

First Hotels.com overbooks this hotel. We arrive at the hotel and the attendant is less than apologetic and helpful. Hotels.com has made a huge error and lost a customer of their site. If you are not able to track the total number of available rooms less how many have been sold/booked, then obviously this can happen many times over. Shouldn't we, the customer, be advised of this before driving to the location? And trying to get a full refund is like pulling teeth. Several calls to hotels.com customer service (somewhere in India) was made and each time, the same statement given: "your payment will be refunded and confirmation email sent out." Never did I receive a proper confirmation email. The refund took forever. I really believe that I should get some type of fee or free stay, after lending hotels.com my money interest-free.
