Clean, convenient, good food
Posted Mar 3, 2017
Space - stayed in a private room, with a bunk bed - a double on the bottom, a twin on the top. One small table, a clock, and one shelf. Everything is clean, the common showers have clean floormats, locks on all doors, and hairdryers. You can ask for clean towels at the front desk. Second floor has a common area with 2 pool tables, 1 ping pong table, couches, and a TV.
Food - continental breakfast, not bad - it's the same every day, but has enough variety to last you a week without it getting frustrating. Hot water and (not fresh) coffee is available throughout the day. A few vending machines with everything from snacks to microwaveable meals. Also, the hostel works with a Chicago youth organization, which sometimes cook dinner for whoever wants to come (who stays at the hostel), share the meal with them, get to know each other, and listen to some presentations they do about their native culture and about the city of Chicago. So a cool way to get free dinner and give back to the community at the same time.
Entertainment - on the second floor you can find a volunteer who can help you find things to do/places to go. Almost every night there is something going on - either the school thing previously mentioned, or comedy night, etc, organized by the hostel. During the day they offer walking tours and other perks.
Location - we loved it. Very easy to get to from the airport. Very close to the L. Easy to get to everything.
Bring your own lock to store your things on the last day!

Thanks for all the information to our future guests. It is much appreciated. We try to have things available to make guests feel welcome and comfortable.
Sorry about the not so fresh coffee, the kitchen is not staff all day and therefore, constantly making coffee becomes challenging. I will work with staff on how to make this better.
Thanks again and safe travels.
